It is an ideal micro-story of just 148 words. Stan is nurturing with an ambition to be a surgeon. His mother tells him a bitter truth. Sometimes sacrifices have to be made along the way, even if it is your best friend. So, he operates on his pet cat. he dies due to this operation. He feels lonely. His purring and playful meowing will be missed forever.
But, why does his mother give Stan a selfish lesson? As a parent, she should not teach selfishness. An indirect protest is there in the story. Write on!
