My name is Vicky. To honour your WDC Anniversary I will be doing a Showering Acts of Joy Member to Member Review on The "Snack"?

Recently I have come to realize that short stories that are based on the reminiscences of the authors have a little bit of magic to them that many fiction works lack. It could be that there is a human touch to them that just cannot be synthesized in a work of pure fiction.

Your story was very well written. It flowed nicely and at no time did my attention wonder.

Your description of church going in a rural area was beautifully done. Having spent some time in the last two years in a rural community I gained a lot of insight into how things work and the church becomes a very central theme.

You paint a lovely picture of your various characters, from the family as a whole. I loved your description of your families involvement in the church:

My family were faithful church members. Oh, were we faithful!

I also thought your two urchins were very refreshing.

Your descriptions are perfect, you are careful not to overdo things, but you give me enough of a picture to have me at the church setting out the feast.

I enjoyed how you worked the snippet of that hymn (I have always had a love for the old fashioned songs of worship) into your story.
This was a very pleasant story, sweet without being cloying. Humorous and light and with a wonderful positive note to it. It was entertaining and very much worth reading.
