A herd of elk along side the road in the Florissant Fossil Beds.
As our friend joycechilders led us from the highway to her house, she suddenly pulled over and hussled back to our van. "There's a herd of elk. Want to see them?"

Of course we said yes, and she led us around the corner onto another road leading east. There in the field was a herd wanting to cross the road to the west, but the traffic was too heavy.

The picture would be clearer if I could have been closer, but I don't think it's too bad considering the distance away the elk were.
