"A Problem Page For All!"

I just stopped coming to meetings, and after a while Deb, the librarian coordinator, stopped calling me to let me know what book they were reading each month. So...I guess I'm out. Sigh.

What books we read? Oh, um. Sacred Clowns by Tony Hillerman; The Fireman's Fair by...someone; To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis (I must say, I did adore this book); a lot of others I can't remember the titles of; and my choice, Drowning Ruth by Christina Schwarz. I orginally read Ruth on Ellie's recommendation and I loved it, so I thought I'd choose it for book club. Plus, we hardly ever read female authors, so I thought it would be a nice change.

If I lived in a bigger city, I'd probably have a better chance of making and keeping amiable friendships in my area. But I don't really think the state has much to do with it; I think it's about mindset and lifestyle and soulmates and being Just. Plain. Different. Unschoolers who live in Oregon, Texas, British Columbia, New York, Ohio, California all talk about being lonely. It comes from choosing to step out of the mainstream.

Jimmy really wants to have an unschooler party, but I got cold feet and Rachel's had cold feet all along, so I don't know what will come of it. I wish Jim would just organize it!
