It's funny you asked this question, because I also took time off from WDC. Like you, I thought of this place as my second home. I took my "leave of absence" in 2022 and only returned this past March 2024. I left mainly because of my 24/7 trucking job and had no free time to speak of. If I had time, you can bet I was sleeping, doing laundry or having a meal, and that was it. While I still have the same job, my weekends are free now, most of them anyway. I felt a little strange when I returned, almost like I had abandoned friends and my writing. A lot of things have changed here on the site, but many things have stayed the same. I'm comfortable once again, but I've noticed that several people I looked forward to seeing and reading again are no longer here or no longer actively taking part in activities, although a few people that left earlier have since returned. So, I would say my return has been a good one. I'm looking forward to writing more short stories, getting further along in my novels, getting involved in a few more activities, and hopefully, making some new friends. |
