I've added a new entry to my book, "Weekly Poetry Challenge four" ![]() "Governor Killing Her Puppy Dog Petrarchan Poem " ![]() Killing a Dog Petrarchan Writing Com The governor killing her puppy dog The news is so shocking It got everybody talking She announced on a blog Saying she killed her hunting dog While out hunting and walking And stalking pheasants Her puppy acting like a coydog. Her actions were so evil, That even President Trump denounced it Her actions caused a political upheavel. No one would vote to acquit. She was seen as so medieval. And denounced as a dog-hating hypocrite. In the court of public opinion no reprieval. Poetry Form: Petrarchan The Petrarchan sonnet, perfected by the Italian poet Petrarch, divides the 14 lines into two sections: an eight-line stanza (octave) rhyming ABBAABBA, and a six-line stanza (sestet) rhyming CDCDCD or CDECDE.
