Watching right-wing protestors
Marching with the flag
Or the confederate flag
Sometimes the Nazi flag.

Shouting false patriotic slogans
And Make America Great
Blood and soil nonsense.

I grow annoyed
At how the right has co-opted the flag
The Starts and Stripes to support
The imposition of Christian Fascism.

Sinclair Lewis once wrote
In his classic warning novel.

“It Can’t Happen Here”

Fascism when it comes
To America,
Will be wrapped in the flag
And the Christian cross.
