I came up with the backstory when Heather decided to give Will a mask of herself that didn't have a mind strip; I decided at that point they were playing Will. When writing the rest of the chapters I started writing Heather Ng as more sympathetic, and decided that Heather Kaminski is definitely not what Will assumes she is from her 'Bible' and the interactions he has with her friends.

These chapters were then written after the line where Will is golemized, something I just felt like doing to add the exposition and potentially add a darker protagonist with fewer moral hangups than (most) Wills. The only thing I feel a little inconsistent is why there isn't a Heather mask already, but that will be explained in Part 3. I really wanted to emphasize, though, how long it takes someone who doesn't read Latin and has to manually polish the masks to do their thing: I estimate the Heathers are around 4x slower than Will.

I have no idea who Anya Lennon is, or even which form she's in. I thought it would be interesting to throw another mask in there, only requiring a mind strip (or brain band, as the girls call it) in case someone wants to use that as a hook.
