October Novel Prep Challenge

No worries; I certainly didn't feel put upon, lol.

Actually, I'm pretty good about markets. I had quite a bit of training in demographics as a political science student, so I can typically trade in on that. I can guess pretty well who you'll vote for, too. Well, not based on your internet persona, but demographics obviously play an important role there. I think it's very important to know who you're writing to. Not who you're writing for, but to. There's a difference there.

I actually have multiple markets, myself. One for N.C. and one for my writing on my own. Fall the God--what I'm Prepping--is a very different story than Killing Mercutio, so why would I assume that the same readers would enjoy it? I mean, I know some fans will follow me instead of my writing, but that isn't something to count on. Those who want to read a "behind-the-scenes" semi-historical re-telling of Romeo and Juliet (in that we used a historical event to ground the setting and timeline) are not the same who want to read a mytho-historical epic fantasy with a heavy emphasis on history. Obviously, my love of history carries over into everything, but the way it translates into the market is very, very different.

I'm sure my books are for educated people, at the very least.
