Be sure to pick up the whole series because I was very annoyed at the end of the first and second books that it just sort of ends. There's an assumption that you're going to read the whole thing, so the plot carries over the entire series without the sense of resolution one typically gets from stand-alone novel.

It does, however, have a lot of retrofuture stuff in it. I personally think it sits a little more in the dieselpunk realm, but it's definitely in the same vein.
