Re: question
First, let me thank my very beautiful Slaminga sisters for trying to untie this Gordian knot known as a prompt. The beauty of the sestina comes from the repetition of the same words. Yes, Sophypia slipped by but that was before I got my stent and have good blood flow now. In the case of read (reed) and read (red), they aren't the same word, right and write are not the same word, and yes, my love, tear (teer) and tear (tare) are not the same word. In order for it to be the same word, they must be, well, the same.

Meter is not a component in this poem, though sometimes that happens in just the natural progress of the piece as you are writing. Point being, meter can be regular, irregular, or nonexistant. Good question!

If you're feeling a little bit like all the ink is running out of every single pen you own, it might be time to go pen shopping. Buy a whole bunch of your favorite kind of pen. There! You've solved the problem. If you still can't seem to get anything written down, maybe it's not the pen that's the problem.
