Today was interesting. I happened to be minding my own business and those Blasted gaurds grabbed me and rounded me up with a few of the locals, Some of them clearly as confused as I was. You know what they did? They accused me of thievery! ME! I'll showed them. After they rounded us up, they put us into town square to humiliate us. Well I talked the morale up in the group. An astonishing Speech if I do say so myself. Then the guard tried to stab me. Took his sword and put him in his place is what I did. Of course that didn't go so well, most of us ended up escaping. I think a couple people were caught. I didn't keep track. Anyways some of the actual thieves showed me a place I could hide out for a while. It's been a very interesting day indeed.

Today was... different. I had just arrived in town when one of the guards rounded up a small group of people right in front of me. Had I been a mere 5 feet closer I might have joined them. Though, I suppose it doesn't matter now as one of them disarmed the guard and allowed many of the others to escape. Quite a sight that was... I need to talk to him, I'm sure he could help me find what I seek. I overheard the guards planning to execute the recaptured prisoners by tomorrow night... I can't let that happen. I must free them and have them help me find this man. I doubt they know much, but right now its my only lead.

September 24, 359 YPC

I was able to sneak inside and bribe one of the guards into letting into the prisoners chamber. Most of us made it out without any trouble, the only death was an older man who fell from the wall on our way down. Sure enough, most of them knew nothing... only the man who fell and a young boy knew anything about the man I saw yesterday. At their advice I picked up some extra equipment at the market and set off alone. Its getting dark out now, I should build a campfire.
September 24 359 YPC

These guys are alright. I thought Living with a bunch of theives would suck. Turns out that all they were doing was trying to take back a bunch of stuff that was taken unjustly by the kingdom anyways. They actually want me to help them train. I've agreed, and let them know that I'll be available to help train tomorrow. They actually threw a party here, you'd think the sewers would be a crappy place to party but they've found a nice little spot away from the smells.
September 24 359 YPC

This is my first time writing in a journal. I feel somewhat weird writing down my stories in a journal. Hopefully, no one ever finds this. Today, Some friends and I threw a party today to celebrate a newcomer. He says he's going to help us train. I have no idea what he's thinking, but of course no one listens to me. I just hope he knows not to get too comfortable around here. The last time we had someone help us 'train', it did not end well...
September 24 359 YPC

Boredom finally takes me...i ahve been tracking this band of renegades for the last three days.
It is finally nightfall and they have made camp.
They have a multitude of prisoners with them.
Why my superiors want me to track these people is beyond me.
There is something they are not telling me.

They are on the move again?

September 25 359 YPC

Training wasn't too bad. almost everybody was keen to learn. Some of them were already pretty good. There's one woman, a star prodigy I think, She's almost as good as me... Almost.

There's someone else I noticed though. He showed up to the training for some reason. Big guy too, looks like some sort of ogre. You'd think a guy like that would love to fight, but he didn't even seem to want to be there. I honestly don't even know why he bothered to come.

After training there was some commotion out by the small impromptu Armory they've set up. I'm not really sure what it was. They won't tell me. I think they just haven't had enough time to trust me yet.
September 25, 359 YPC

I don't feel that this "master" is worth having around. He doesn't seem to be teaching us anything new, and I'm not sure that I can trust him. Something about him just seems off. Either way, he was impressed with Lizzle. I'm it has more to do with her looks than her talents, but there's nothing I can do about it. I tried to discuss this new person with some of the guys, but I started a bit of an argument. Of course, I managed to talk my way out of it, but some of the guys weren't so lucky. Whether I like it or not, training continues tomorrow.
September 25 359 YPC

Where could this group be heading?
I sent a request for additional scouts, but haven't heard anything back yet.
Guess it's still just me and them.
I watched as one of the prisoners makes a break for it.
I went to assist, but could only watch as they shot him down.

If only i was quicker....
They set up camp near some mountain valley.
Where could they be going?
September 25, 359 YPC

I've been walking all day and it'll be getting dusk soon. I think I may have gotten turned around somewhere this morning and now I'm lost. I think its best I take a moment and try to figure out where I am. Up ahead are some footprints that I found about 5 minutes ago, though I have no idea where they lead... I suppose I'll to find out. Now that I look I think I can see something off in the distance. I'll set out soon after a quick rest.
September 26, 359 YPC

I really don't feel like doing a journal today, but a stupid friend of mine keeps insisting that it's important. I have no idea what he has planned with this, but I guess I have to go with it. Anyways, we continued practice today as usual. I actually learned the trainer's name today. It's Graham. I don't know where that name came from, but again, no one seems to care what I say. Lizzle seems to be getting more than close to Graham. Supposedly she keeps impressing him, but it seems to me that his training has made her worse than before! I'm guessing something is going on there outside of the training. Me and some of the guys have been wanting to go out and get some action, but this stupid trainer Graham refuses to let us do anything until our training is complete. What a jerk. it really pisses me off!
September 26 359 YPC

I awoke to see the group had moved on without me.
How long had i been sleeping?
They must have snuck off during the night.
As i got ready to catch up with them, i looked at where they had made camp last.

I was revolted...and almost got sick.
The monsters had slaughtered the men last night and left their bodies in the abandoned camp.
The women and children were probably still alive...their bodies were nowhere to be seen.

I seemed to fly through the trees as i attempted to catch up.
If i ever did, those renegades would be sorry.
They would regret what they had done!
September 26 359 YPC

I'm not even sure what to do with these guys anymore. It's been such a frusterating day. I decided I needed to head to the surface this morning to get some Groceries. I figured I'd Bring some stuff to them to show my gratitude to help them out. That's when I see Lizzle threatening some guy with a sword.

When I went over and questioned them she said this guy had been sneaking around here and he was quick to say that he had been looking for me. That wasn't a very fun argument to have. After much debate he had convinced us to hear him out. By that point it was time for us to go back to training. I wasn't able to fetch those groceries after all. We secretly escorted the man back to Lizzle's quarters as I don't really have any. I don't even know how he had found me. He agreed to let us shackle him there while we train.

Lizzle Wasn't doing very well during training. I'm sure she's been thinking of todays events. I'll have to teach her to keep her mind focused later. Zeus and a few of the others men asked me after training if they could head out to the surface to practice their skills. Honestly I don't even know 'who' they were thinking of training on, but I doubt that the leaders of this little encampment would appreciate my pupils running off and getting captured. Not only that, but if someone managed to trace me here then I really have to make sure we're careful so that no one else finds us. Needless to say, I turned them down.

I'm about to head back with Lizzle to question the cloaked man and ask him some questions.
September 27 359 YPC

I finally caught up with that group.
I was right, the women and children are still alive.
Who were these people? What were they after?

Not like it mattered...they would all be dead soon enough.
The captives ware all in a group..tied and gagged.
The renegades are all gathered around a campfire, drinking and laughing.

We'll see how long that lasts......
September 27 359 YPC

That Snake tricked us! He had picked the lock on his shackles while we were out. I advised Lizzle to make sure she isn't alone if that man is around. I was worried that if we didn't find him that I'd have to tell the leaders of how we've been compromised.

Luckily he confronted me when I was alone asking me about these theives and their cause. I actually wasn't sure what to say. I know they seem like good people but why are they living in the sewers? Why the need to train? He told me to think upon my decisions and to speak to him when I was sure if helping them was wise.

I led training as usual. Neither Zeus nor Lizzle were there though. I'm not sure what happened to them but it concerns me more than a little. I Haven't seen them all day.
September 27, 359 YPC

I talked to Lizzle today, and managed to convince her to go outside for some fun. We managed to steal a couple of nice items and even practiced some of these moves that this trainer guy showed us. These moves were actually unstoppable. After talking to Lizzle, we both agreed we were better off on our own. Hopefully, Graham won't come looking for us. Who knows what would happen...
Just my luck...

I went ahead and disobeyed orders. I killed them all....
All the renegades for what they had done...they had it coming.

An elven patrol passing by saw me slaughter the murderers and arrested me.
Half the patrol took the prisoners back to their homes, half are staying with me.
Now i am on my way back to Slavengard for trial..
Not the way i wanted to go back home...

I am just glad they let me keep my journal.
September 28, 359 YPC

I started Spying on the going-ons of the people here. If they're up to something then I should make sure I know about it. Their cause may have been good one time, but I can't guarantee it always will.

I tried to open a few of the unwatched doors of the higher ups here. They were all locked, That's not awfully surprising in a camp of theives, I don't have the right skills to break in without being noticed so I'm abandoning that plan for now.

I tried to go with a strategy I'm a little more familiar with anyway. I asked if I could be more involved. They agreed that it would be a good idea for me to help and they told me about a public execution the city was planning on holding in three days time. They also gave me the profiles of most of the prisoners arranged for execution. Most of them seem to be good people. The numbers seemed a bit smaller than the executions I've witnessed before. When I asked they said that they were still electing prisoners to put up and that it wasn't final yet. I'll have to investigate it myself. I have a feeling however that this is a test to see how far I would be willing to defy the law.

I went back to Training and bot Lizzle and Zeus were missing again. I asked the other students and none of them had seen them since yesterday.
September 29, 359 YPC

I have slacked off a little regarding my journal. Lizzle and I have spent much of our time looting and attacking others. There just has not been enough time to write! Today, Lizzle and I made our way through town and managed to loot a bunch of things. We stole several pieces of gold jewelry, a couple of sword, and a beautiful set of armor. After enjoying our spoils, we decided it was best to share our rewards with the others. Maybe it will encourage them to come out and join us.
i have finally returned....i have been brought back to Slavengard for trial.
I broke one of the most important rules of scouting...never let your emotions rule you.
My father..the king of Slavengard..already hates me for being a half-elf.
He hands down his judgement easily.

He tells me and the court that i am banished from Slavengard forever...i can never return..under penalty of death.
His guards return my bow, my sword, my pack of supplies, and my journal.
Then they slam the city gates in my face.

I cursed them for their incompetence.
They would have let ll the prisoners die before they took action.
I saved lives...but all they care about are the laws....the rules.
Let them have their laws.

Now i am my own master!
September 29, 359 YPC

Those stupid kids are going to get themselves killed if not worse. When Klemeck told me that my students were off causing trouble and shoved a wanted poster in my hands I felt pretty stupid. I guess I didn't teach them very well. I understand why Zeus left, he seemed pretty miserable. Lizzle on the other hand should have known better. I wonder how much of this was triggered by that man suddenly appearing. It certainly doesn't look good for your commader to have to tell you the failings of your students

I held training early so that I could travel to the surface to look for Lizzle and Zeus. I couldn't stay out for too long. I looked for a couple hours, but turned up nothing. A guard stopped me thinking I looked familiar. he wasn't too sure so he let me go, but I decided to head back before he pieced things together.

The execution is two days away. I haven't gotten a chance to research at all yet.
September 30 359 YPC

It seems like i have been traveling for days...ever since the trial at Slavengard, i have been on the move.
Just trying to get some distance from the place.

I found myself in a place i had never been before...
What was that?
I hid nearby and saw a couple humans pass by.

They were arguing over armor and weapons...i couldn't make it all out.
As soon as they are out of sight, i'll follow them.
We'll see just what they are up to....
September 30 359 YPC

I'm not sure what to do. I'm stuck holding position as the execution is tomorrow and I have to be ready for my roll in the sabotage. Lizzle was taken by the town gaurd. Not much I could have done about it either. I finally managed to track Zeus and lizzle down, but it was too late.

The kid has magic. I can't even beleive it. I know he's not a child but he sure acts like one. I confronted them and I tried to get them to come back to the camp where we could help them. Zeus tried to fight me. I would have got him too if he hadn't used that heinous art. I don't even know if it was on purpose.

After he smashed me against that wall. The guards must have heard us and they captured Lizzle. I think Zeus managed to escape, but I'm not sure where he went or what he's planning. Luckily the guards didn't think much of me since I was already lying in the alley.

I'd be hunting him down now if I wasn't stuck here. I just hope he doesn't do anything stupid.
September 30, 359 YPC

He got her! That... trainer got her! Lizzle and I were enjoying some time together. I could feel a serious connection between the two of us, only to have Graham, or whatever his name is, come and steal her away! I managed to escape, but I need to get Lizzle back. I know she wants to join me!

It's frustrating but I don't think I have any other choice. I need to rejoin the group and get back to "training". At least I can talk to Lizzle about really escaping. For good. Now I just have to work on my apology...
September 30 359 YPC

I have watched this human for quite some time.
He seems distraught over something...what that is i cannot even begin to guess.

He kept glancing back at something..or somewhere...
I keep wondering what it is he is thinking about...

Tomorrow will be an interesting day...for i plan on following him wherever he intends to go.
I'll get to see exactly what he's trying to hide....
Race:Elf

Name: Lord Euricle

Age:53

Appearance: Mid height: Piercing blue eyes: Wears a green tunic with blue along its' seams. Also wears a solid purple cloak with the seal of Slavenagrd.

Demeanor: A noblemen of Slavengard. Loyal to the king and also shares his dislike for humans. He is cunningly malevolent. He is also the royal adviser to the crown. Although he serves the king, he sometimes feels that he deserves to have more power. He possess an inborn intuition. Lord Euricle can hide his emotions quite well..

Special skills: Can decipher practically every ancient text he acquires. Can sense the heart and hidden emotions of anyone just by looking into their eyes. He has the ability to strongly convince others to follow him.
Race: Human

Name: Lucianus "Lucian" Grimaldi

Age: 27

Appearance: Lucian has bright green eyes with long black hair sprinkled with silver strands that he keeps pulled back or in a ponytail. He is tall standing at an even six foot with an athletic wiry framed body. He wears dark emerald green dragon scale light armor covered by a black cloak from the Shadow assassin clan that conceals an assortment of weapons, and can be used as a weapon itself with the proper training. The most prominent weapon that he carries is a sword he received from the dwarves at the forges in Dursenstraf, a mountainous fortress in the deep north made of mythril one of the most powerful substances around. It is a silver sword with a wicked curved blade engraved with the name Nemesis. The hilt of the sword is an obsidian black craved from the Sequoias tree known for being able to store vast amounts of energy. The sword itself has other magical properties known only to Lucian, and designed in a way that only he can bring them out.

Demeanor: Lucian trusts only those of his covenant. He doesn’t trust others outside of it because they may have dealings with this family. The Grimaldi’s are a powerful wizarding family usually hired by the royal court for various jobs. The only thing holding power over them is a treaty made with the royal family in Slavengard long ago barring the Grimaldi’s from true power over the kingdom. Lucian doesn’t believe in helping others outside the covenant, although if someone is in dire straits he’ll do what he can to help. Lucian has a past filled with darkness surrounding him and his departure from his family. He is known as the black sheep of the family since he refuses to fall in line with the rest to do the royal families bidding.

Special Skills: Better than most in proficiency with the sword as well as other tools used by assassins. Magick is a talent he has honed since birth being one of the natural talented Grimaldi’s. One of the things he prides himself over is the training he has undertaken in resistance to other magick, especially mind control, his father is very proficient in that type of magick which gives him an unusual resistance to it, which angers his father to no end. As he has traveled the world he has picked up talents so that he can survive, that includes thievery, lock picking, and hand to hand combat.
October 1 359 YPC

The Plan to stop the Execution went off as well as could be hoped for. I wish I hadn't been so distracted with Zeus and Lizzle these last couple of days. Baron Harlend Torn, one of the worst killers in Calamine was on the chopping block and we saved him. if I had been given more time to look into what was happening I may have known. I could have stopped it. The worst part is that he's joined our group of so called freedom fighters. That cloaked figure was right.

Zeus is outraged with me, he wouldn't even accept his role in Lizzle's capture. He blames me for the whole thing. I was atleast able to get him to agree not to rush off recklessly to the city gates. I didn't even get a chance to ask him about the magic. Not many can use it. Even fewer exist that weren't taught by some magical community.

I pretended to be too exhausted from the rescue to commence training today. I need to find a way to get out of here, before I get into this worse than I already have.
Oct 2 359 ypc

It's been a couple of days since my last addition. Graham had us working to stop an execution. I did not talk to him, but I think we saved the guy. We have a new member to our group. His name is Baron Tom. At least I think so. I am definitely not caught up with the events around the group. Either way, he seems very interesting and I like him a lot. I think he's a lot better than Graham.

Graham has been acting different though. The guy is acting tired and worn out. I think he may finally leave my comrades and I alone. He has brought changes to our group, and I do not like it. We were doing fine before he came along. We were scraping our way through, and now we are stopping executions. If I knew this is what we were signing up for, I would have never stayed.

Lizzle asked me about leaving the camp to hit the streets again. I don't know if that is necessarily a good idea right now. After the way they came after us last time... I just don't feel like going through that again. Graham tends to get a little over dramatic when things don't go according to his plan. Either way, when the time is right, Lizzle and I will escape again. And next time, we won't be coming back. No matter what Graham tries to do.
Oct 2 359 YPC

Seems like things are getting interesting..

The human i am following is very headstrong..but careless.
He seems to care for others..but has quite the temper....what an interesting man.

I watched as he freed his friend and fled the battle.
I watched as he and another chatted about leaving someone called "Graham."

Now i know where these deserters are..and where the camp they left behind is....
The only thing i need to decide now is...
What is my next move?
Punishing Vyrin for murder was prudent. However I believe that banishing him was not the right thing to do. I foresee that this act might lead to trouble for our country. I also sense the power and aura of magic is being exercised. With the kings' permission which I will easily acquire, I will send out spies throughout land. Not only do I plan to recapture Vyrin but I will learn the course and events that are unfolding that shall lead me to this mysterious essence of magic.
October 2, 359 YPC

Well, I can almost picture the look on your face when you open this package that I have sent to you. I decided to write something for you to read about me since I have such a problem opening up about all the things that I have done, and experienced over the years. I find myself at a cross roads with many paths that I can take. I don’t know how long I’ll be gone, Luella, but what I can tell you is that you will be protected and taken care of while I am away. I’ll eventually make my way back to you, and that is something that I can’t promise, but I’ll try. My little Lulu, I can’t say that I could have had a better apprentice than you. I remember the day you came into my life, and in truth, you are more to me than an apprentice, for all tense and purposes you are the daughter I have always wanted. I have left you in the hands of my very capable friend Duncan Snow, and there are other safe guards in place should something go wrong.

I suppose I should start with the naming of this diary of sorts that I’m writing. I’ll call it "The Mage Almanac or The Life and Times of Lucian Grimaldi" I have set out on a journey to find and help Vyrin Airwalker, as well as others who have taken it upon themselves to stop senseless executions. I heard rumors about something going on with some rebels, and then Janelle Underwood contacted me to tell me about her father Langford being killed during an escape when he was unjustly rounded up in a town square for reasons past understanding. She wants me to find the people who are responsible for his death. As you know Janelle helped me when I made my escape from my family by taking care of me while I was on the run, and together we had a few adventures of our own, so I feel that I owe it to her and her father who helped me as well to find those responsible and punish them.

I’ll end this here, so that I might be able to get some sleep. I’m close to the city, so this little package should make it to you relatively quick.

Stay safe my little one I’ll write again soon.

October 2nd 359

Lizzle has changed in the few short days since I saw her last. I'm not sure if it was whatever happened to her in the prisons, or if it was Zeus' influence. Either way she's become more reckless. This place is a nightmare.

Klemeck thanked me for an excellent job well done. Said I had promise. I hate him so much. He said he wanted to talk to me about some of their operations. I'm meeting with them tomorrow

The Baron watched our Training session today. It was unsettling, He just stared at us the whole time. There was something in those eyes that woulds creep out even the sturdiest of men.

I honestly don't know what I should do. I can't leave as I don't know what would happen to my students. At the same time if things continue as they've been going so far, Who knows what further evil we may unleash.
My spies that I have sent out have discovered much about the people outside Slavengard. There seems to have been an execution that was stopped by rebels. It was led by someone named Graham. It has apparently gained great fame across the Land. Something wonderful has happened. As I was searching for the ancient text of the religions of the North in my library, I stumbled across an old record of time, It was a scroll that told of magic users called the Grimaldis. It did not say where this place was or what it was called. Long ago there was an alliance between this mysterious kingdom and Slavengard. I must know if there are surviving members of that family. I do sense that Vyrin is the key that will lead to my question. I must be careful though. Magic wielders are force to be reckoned with.
Oct 3 359 YPC

What is going on? It seems my past has decided to come and haunt me...
I left the rebel camp and walked about the town nearby...i needed supplies.
When i returned, the air around the camp seemed different...like there were more people there.

I silently searched around..and found them.
The scouts of Slavengard.....
Why are they here!?

Are they here for me...or the rebels?
Couln't be the rebels....elves arrely interfere with human affairs..unless they include elven land or people.
As they left, one of them looked right at my hiding place.

Did he see me? I couldn't tell....
If he did, then we all were in trouble.
If i know Slavengard like i think i do.....then more..lots more..will be coming here.
And i'm not sticking around for that...
October 3rd 359 YPC

I am writing you again this time from farther away, so I’m not exactly sure when you will receive this. The day started out well enough with me making good time on horse back. You remember Starflare? Only the Goddess Ashire knows what I would do without her. She has saved me more times than I can count at the risk to her own life. She misses you little one, and I can’t blame her. I remember when we went on that camping trip after you first learned how to generate fire, and while I slept you accidentally started that blaze in the dark forest that burned for 10 days. Ah, the memories that come forth now that I have a chance to rest my body from the hard day of riding.

I am now in the small town of Galihan located on the outskirts of Slavengard gathering information about the group I’m looking for that stopped that execution. From what I have gathered so far while undercover as a traveling circus magician is that the group is being led by someone named Graham.

He is an ex-knight of the royal guard, or so the information I have gathered states. The info came from drunks or people who like to hear themselves talk which mostly consists of liars, but there must be a grain of truth there somewhere. News spreads fast, and if him and his group are picking up this type of fame from one incident; tales of his past will surely come out soon enough.

I also caught word that someone besides myself is looking for the rebels and Vyrin, not to mention the last remaining members of my family. I don’t like where this is headed, but I told Janelle that I would find Langford’s killers and that is exactly what I’ll do. Now that I’m outside Slavengard I have to be sure to keep my magick levels low so I can stay undetected, but if the occasion calls for it I’ll do what I must.

Keep safe my little one,

Lucian

PS. I hope you have been keeping up with your magickal practice, when I do get back there will be a test.

I'm leaving tonight. I left a note in Lizzle's quarters to take Zeus and get out. I know thos kids are going to cause Trouble, But I also know that they are less likely to cause harm to the kingdom working on their own.

I saw it, their master plan. An execution of the king. It's going to work too. I went into the war room looking for Klemeck and I saw what they were planning. The whole thing. I don't think they saw me. It's hard to tell. I think this is just one of many groups around the city working towards this goal.

I need to get out of here. I am going to go as far from here as possible. Away from this chaos. Find somewhere I can lead a normal life.

Lizzle handed me a letter today. It was from Graham. He told her that she and I needed to leave the camp immediately. He said we were unruly and must leave before we corrupt any more of his students. I can still feel the rage boiling in my veins from when I read that letter. It was frustrating to think Graham was trying to kick us out of the camp. This is our home! Lizzle and I both grew up with these people, and it is wrong of me to even think of moving away from them. We are all family.

I hope nobody ever reads my journal, because they could easily use this to convict me. I am going to kill Graham.

This will be a short entry...i do not have much time.
The trees whisper of a newcomer to the forest..I do not sense malice with him, but he reeks of magical ability.
I must be cautious...i still don't know if he is freelance, an ally, or a hunter sent by Slavengard.

But other than that, the camp turmoil seems to be reaching a boiling point.
The young couple seems agitated with the man known as Graham...i fear for his safety.
Maybe i will slip him a anonymous letter detailing what i have seen...

I don't want to get too involved..but i can't sit back and do nothing!

Luella, things have certainly picked up is all I can say about what has been going on. Starflare and I have finally made it to the city with the rebels. I have been going under a new guise as a mercenary, which isn’t too far from the truth. You would be surprised by the amount of work one could pick up in this trade. Another thing we’ll work on when I get back is your acting ability. You never know when you’ll need to go into hiding. In-fact I’ll be sure to write Duncan a letter informing him about starting your lessons. I have changed my appearance for this role I’m playing. You probably wouldn’t even be able to recognize me with this charm that I placed on myself. I go by the name Archer Caine to go along with my new appearance of:

Hazel brown eyes with dirty blonde hair that comes to my shoulders. My usual five o’clock shadow is gone, so that I have a clean shaven rectangular face with a strong chin. My usual armor has a modifying charm placed on it that will make it look like I’m wearing nothing more than a brown hooded cloak; with a tan cotton shirt over a simple brown leather vest accompanied by brown beggar slacks, and black leather skin boots. My sword has been modified to look like a two handed broadsword. Also, our Starflare has been charmed to look light brown with a dark mane instead of her usual cherry chestnut color with cherry red mane, and three white spots around her neck.

I have been approached by a few people looking for some under the table work to be done in a need to know capacity. I decided to spend some time in the tavern, and it is here that I gained some of the info I was looking for about Langford. I discovered Graham has fled the area, and that a lot of the trouble that started up was due to two kids.

Since finding out about Graham Winters leaving I have decided to follow him, and it shouldn’t take long for me to find him since he hasn’t been gone that long. I’ll end things here because I need to get a few hours of sleep. I’ll will finish my search for Graham in the morning, I haven't caught any sign of Vyrin, but I feel he may be really close.

Stay safe little one,

Archer aka Lucian

Zeus is going to try to kill me. If he does He'll regret it. I found a note not long ago telling me that he was planning on trying to assassinate me. If he tries tonight then there will be a surprise waiting for him. I have set a trap for him. It may not be the best as Traps aren't my forte, but someone as reckless as Zeus should easily fall prey to it. I assume the note was left by that cloaked figure from a few days ago.

I left Camp not even an hour ago and have hit the streets. My face is plastered on wanted posters throughout the city. Apparantly they believe I am the one responsible for the release of Baron Torn. Getting out of the city won't be easy since I'm now the second most wanted man in the city.
Priorities have changed. I have turned my focus to the prospect of there being a magic user in the midst. My scouts have observed a peculiar magician who performed for a traveling sideshow in a town called Galihan. I do not believe this magician is all smoke and mirrors. Some of the "tricks" were too amazing from the reports I have gotten. Now something remarkable has occurred that has confirmed my suspicions that he is a magic user. One of my spies actually saw him change physical appearance when he thought no one one was around. Next comes the task of controlling this "Archer Caine" as he calls himself now. It would be useless to try and apprehend a person of such magic by simple manpower. Nevertheless I will surely find a way. I will discover his weakness. It is thus imperative that he does not know he is being watched.

That scent...it couldn't be...
This scent i smell...it used to belong to Euricle. He had a very unique scent to him.
The scent was faint...he was still a long distance off.....
What he was doing in this forest...i could not say...but i figured it had something to do with me.

Graham has received the letter i sent and left camp.
I have decided to follow him...mainly because the man who i smelled before...the one who reeked of magic..is tailing him.
I do not know if he senses me or not...

If he tries anything funny, the next feeling he'll get is a arrow in the back!
That goes for Euricle and his scouts as well.

It seems things are even worse than I thought before. I have found Graham only to find that things are not exactly as I had thought. A dangerous faction has designs of overthrowing the kingdom. It may be getting even worse. I have had to reveal myself for the mage user that I am. I caught up with Graham on the outskirts of rebel town half way back to Galihan in the Black Widow forest named after the ancient spider goddess that had once been a human woman with a broken heart. I remember this forest well from my time with Janelle. I know the true story behind this forest and I may tell you about it someday, or if I have enough time tomorrow night I’ll tell you some of the tale.

Now back to current events.

Graham had just made camp, and did an excellent job covering his trail, yet he had thought he was clear of anyone that was looking for him. Four people were following him. Three professionals, and then one that was pretty undetectable, but still clearly clumsy in his ways of stealth. If I hadn’t been paying attention, I would have missed him altogether. I wasn’t worried though because no human weapon, or magical weapon for that matter can possibly hope to hurt me. Nothing short of the royal scimitar can touch the armor I wear, and even then it will take one of great skill. I feel sorry for any who tries. I’ll have to tell you about the time the one-eyed giant of Grayson Mountain used a tree to smash me.

Graham had taken refuge in the forest, and seemed proficient in the ways of survival, it was in that instant that I felt a kinship with this man. I could only hope he and I were alike, still he had already earned my respect. I followed the four people following Graham. It wasn’t until the first three tried to attack him did I let my presence known. The fourth more clumsy follower seemed to sense my presence before hand, and hung back surveying the area for me I’m guessing.

I allowing the magic in my veins to surge forth like the unstoppable churning waters of the ocean. I pulled the dagger of Indoki from my cloak, and while on Starflare threw the instrument of death toward the assailant. The blade hit its mark, thus warning Graham about the enemies that had surrounded him. He must have known he had been surrounded because he tore out of the tent he put up like a mad man. One other assailant had engaged him in a sword battle. The third thought he was going to flank Graham, but I was there to intercept him.

Once the assailants had been dealt with I was attempted to help Graham up from the ground where he had fallen during the battle; an when an arrow rang out, and attempted to reach me. I stopped the arrow effortlessly with my hand revealing to Graham my magic ability. He doesn’t know my identity, but knows that I can use magic. Archer Caine will be around for a while I guess. I don’t know who sent this arrow toward me, but a simple spell could make the arrow return to its user and kill him. Nevertheless, it could be someone from whom I can get information. It seems that I am being followed, and people are getting too, close to me. I need to get out of this situation, and fast.

I am writing this before Graham and I set out for the day on our way to Galihan. He is a shy individual, and nothing like how I thought he was going to be. I’ll ask him about news on Langford once we are in Galihan. I lost track of that fourth person following Graham, and I don’t want to use my magic to find him because that would give away my position. I have already used too much. However, now that we both know about him we’ll be on the look out. Finding him shouldn’t be too hard. Graham hasn't spoken much, but what he has told me is shocking. I’ll end this here, but I’ll write you again tomorrow.

I've set up camp in the Black Widow forest. Not many go here due to the tales told some have said that a Spider queen lives here. Others say that there is a maiden who lures young men into her lair and disposes of them. I'm not too worried about these myths. I have much more pressing issues to worry about at the moment. I feel that I have escaped the rebels for now. They may not even try to track me down. It may be in their best interests to let me stay at large. It would make the people fear them. Having a leader that is nigh unstoppable. I can't turn myself in either as my death would make me a martyr, possibly striking forth the rebellion further.

I'll be cursed no matter what I do. I have become a catalyst for something dark and sinister. There will be a lot of people hunting me down. If our Lord Faroh learns that the rebels are planning a coup I will be the most hunted man in the East. Not to mention the Nobles who will have me killed for releasing the man responsible for bloody deaths of so many of their daughters. I have heard no word yet from my former students, but if Zeus lives he will surely be hunting me down as well. My life as a town guard general has not prepared me for this. I have left a message for the cloaked figure I met to meet me in Galihan. There must be some infor *ConfettiBL*
It seems that everything is converging in the Black Widow forest. It has been confirmed that the one magic user Archer Caine, the renegade Vyrin, and the Graham Winters who stopped the infamous would-be execution, are positioned there. I have decided to send an undercover spy disguised as a merchant to obtain knowledge about Archer Caine. His job will be to befriend him and to coerce a weakness or a means of controlling him. As for Vyrin, he will be apprehended when no one is aware. Concerning Graham I will turn him into these who demand his capture.
October 5 359 YPC

Well, I was not able to kill Graham. Somebody found out my plan and told Graham about it. I'm not too thrilled about it, but I guess I don't have a choice. The reason I have not made an addition is because I've been taking time to find out who ratted me out. I found out and... let's just say he won't be ratting out on anyone again.

Lizzle talked to me about going out of the camp permanently. She said we should try to hunt down Graham. It sounds like fun, but I'm unsure about it. I may loathe him, but by no means is he a slouch. A task this difficult could end badly for me. I need to take a couple days to think about this. I'll write again in a couple days.
Oct 6 359 YPC

I'm definitely in over my head.
Too much is building up too fast....
First it was Slavengard...then the rebels...then graham....the magic user...and then Euricle.
And now, someone from the camp tried to find and kill me!
Luckily, he failed...although my leg will need a day to heal.
Too much..too fast...

I've spotted a merchant wandering the forest....he smelled like Euricle.
One of his spies maybe?
Not like it matters...only proof i need is that he smells like him..which means he's been in contact with him.

I put a arrow in his hip from 40 paces....he never saw it coming.
He tried to reach for a dagger, bit i was faster and disarmed him.
I told him to give a message to Euricle and Slavengard....leave it alone!

Leave me and the events here alone.
I let the spy go....no doubt he'll return to Euricle.
Next i'll pay a visit to that magic user!

We'll see what he's up to....maybe i could enlist his help....
maybe.....

My dear little one,

I write this to you now from The Osia inn in Galihan on the other side of the city away from where I first set up shop as a traveling magician. I have kept that guise up as I travel with Graham which didn’t go unnoticed by the townsfolk. I must have made a great impression while in town before; because we were put up in the best rooms at the Inn. I have found through information from Graham about a kid named Zeus who had made plans on killing him, and if it weren’t for someone watching out for him that kid would have succeeded. As Graham told his story about this Zeus he mentioned a girls name, Lizzle. When he talked about her there was a note of sadness in his voice.

I wonder why so many people want him dead. We hadn’t been set up at the Inn for more than a few hours when we were approached by a youthful lad who I was able to discern for the fourth person that had been trailing Graham this whole time. I also believe this is the person responsible for saving Graham’s life. The young man’s name is Vyrin Airwalker

Vyrin is an interesting little fellow with a voracious appetite. He has already gone through twenty of my gold coins for food. I have also learned that he dispatched a merchant that may have had something to do with Lord Euricle. Vyrin said that he could smell Euricle on this merchant which in my mind I pictured him as some kind of little puppy. I’m getting distracted, and laughing hysterically. This merchant being in the forest where Graham and I were just days before can’t be a coincidence. Lord Euricle is the type of man that would send people after Graham and Vyrin, he would probably be interested in me, if he knew who I was that is. It just may be possible that he is on to Archer Caine. This is very frustrating to say the least, yet I know I’ll have to deal with this as it goes. So, let me back it up just to get it all clear, and not just for you, but for me too. It may look better on paper than it does saying it out loud.

1. Graham Winters is wanted by people who want to kill him.

2. Vyrin has been cast out of the only place he has called home, and is being sought after by Lord Euricle it seems.

3. I have, and probably always will be sought after by the Kingdom itself, and anyone who thinks they can control me and my magick. Yeah, I know the joke will be on them if they even make an attempt. It also seems that Archer Caine may have drawn the attention of Lord Euricle.

Since I have written all of this out now, it sounds, and now looks pretty daunting. However, on the upside we’re all still alive, and won’t go down without a fight. Well, I can’t speak for Vyrin and Graham, but I sure as hell won’t go down without a fight. I think if I did you would bring me back just to kick my ass for not keeping my promise to you.

Your truly, the one and only

Archer Caine
Oct 6 359 YPC

Archer Caine is an interesting man. Another magic user though. I hate their that filthy art, however Archer has saved my life and I cannot forget about that. I wonder what's in it for him though. I have made preperations in case he tries something, but I don't dare put them down in writing yet.

We made it to Galihan finally. I managed to slip out undetected to meet with my Mysterious friend, He called himself Desmond, He told me that I'm in the middle of something much larger than I had expected. He told me that there were many emissaries of Slavengard about and to be careful. I know the elves don't like to mingle with Humans so something really bad must be happening.

When I made it back I saw that Archer was talking to someone, a Half-elf. A rare breed in these parts. I don't envy that heritage one bit. Archer asked me where I had been, I made an excuse, but I'm not sure he believed me.

As of yet, it doesn't seem like we have any plans of where to go from here. I may try to find out tomorrow morning Where Archer is going, and see if I can come along. It may be in my best interest to stay near someone that powerful.
It seems that Vyrin perceived the true identity of my merchant spy. However something most fortunate has happened. My operatives have secretly followed the magic user Galihan Archer Caine to Galihan. One of my spies has intercepted and followed a letter written by him to someone close to him. I have learned some information from the letter. The knowledge of this love one has presented an opportunity. If I can hold this individual hostage, it will be the way to control Archer. Concerning the thorn in my side Vyrin, I have sent my best Archer assassin to eliminate him. Everything is falling into place.
Oct 6 359 YPC

The day is almost over...the day itself was quite interesting.
I got to talk with the mage i have been sensing...he calls himself Archer Caine.

I do not know if that is his real name..but i accept it anyways.
Graham also saw me as i ate and conversed with Archer. I don't think he knows i was the one who warned him and have been tracking him these last few days.
At least i hope he doesn't.....

I thanked the mage for the meal and left town.
I have to keep an eye out for Euricle and his subordinates.
The hairs on the back of my neck tingle.....something is coming....

Now the only question is......
Who is it coming for?

I shall wait in the forests outside of town.
If this feeling is Euricle sending someone for me, he has his work cut out for him.
I was the best scout and archer he had.
No-one was better.
No-one....

The sun is almost set...
I will continue this in the morning....
October 7th 359 YPC

Luella,

I have nearly underestimated this Lord Euricle. However, due to my unease about being in this area of the world again I set a trap that revealed more than I thought it would. First, you know as I send these letters to you I am not stupid enough to think they couldn’t be traced, but clearly this Euricle must have thought I’m some amateur which is a good thing for me. He never would have guessed I would send off decoy birds encase someone would be foolish enough to follow it back to you. I would never allow anyone put you in danger.

This is what happened.

I woke up early to write you a letter, and figured since Lord Euricle made an attempt to send one of his men in town as a merchant then he would make some attempt to do something else, so I have set decoy information with the hope to get this Lord Euricle off my back. He’ll think that we are going to be back in the Black Widow forest, and then meeting with Captain Kincaid in the port of Galihan. It is all falling into place.

Graham disappeared lastnight, and then lied to me about what he was doing. I don’t know how I feel about that, but I’m lying to him so I suppose it is fine. We will be leaving today though, with Graham leaving first headed toward the outskirts of Galihan. I'll take up the rear to cover our tracks then follow.

Vyrin is indeed an interesting character even though I feel sometimes he may be mixed with something canine from the way he is able to smell magickal beings. Although, there is something about the ability that I remember from my studies, yet I can’t put my finger on it. I’ll keep you informed if I remember what it reminds me of. Before Vyrin left us I placed a magic barrier on him with his permission. One can never be too careful since we are being sought after. I attached the barrier to one of my crystals, so if it breaks I’ll know Vyrin is in trouble. He seems young, but I can tell there is much potential there.

I’ll end things here, but I’ll be sending Duncan a letter soon about where to move you. I may need to cash in a favor or two, but no one will finding out about you.

Lucian

Duncan
,

I’ll make this short and sweet. Lord Euricle is coming annoyingly close to me now. I had underestimated him at first, but since he wants to step his game up with people starting to follow me. I’ll go on the offensive. I had hoped to make this trip quick and easy with plans on taking Luella to the deep desert to train with Lord Asuri as I did before the battle for Everheart Palace. Alas, I don’t think that will be any time soon. I want you to take Luella to those mountains I mentioned before I left. I’ll be changing up the way I send word to you on a regular basis, and from here on out, if I don’t mention something that the both of us know about then you know it didn’t come from me.

Archer showed me a point on his map earlier today, told me to memorize it as that was where we are going, He also advised me that it might be wise to travel seperately as I might not the only one being hunted down. He might just be trying to keep me away from him to avoid danger, But I didn't really have much choice in the matter. The trip should take me three days, however I may end up being late for it.

I encountered a blind man wandering the area today, said he was lost and had no idea how we got there. A completely suspicious story, and one I am assuming my hunters are using against me, I'm not sure if I did the right thing ,but I couldn't leave him there.

I used my protective measure I had prepared for Archer on him, the Manacles I retrieved from Desmond that prevent Magic should prevent any Tracking on him as well as any magic he may try to use. It should also prevent him from trying anything fishy.

The guy thought I was paranoid of course and maybey rightfully so. He argued about it, but I did convince him that this is the only way I'd help him. I will also be keeping an eye open tonight as I sleep to make sure he doesn't try something.

He called himself Della Moore.
After trying to locate Archers' loved one it has landed my men back to the Black Widow forest. My scouts have searched thoroughly about the forest but no one has been found. My spies are still searching for that pest Vyrin. It's hard to think that not long ago he was Slavengards' finest warrior an scout. I have come to think that disposing of him might not be the best move. If I could convince the king to lift the death penalty in the case of his return, I might be able to give him power, and wealth in exchange for his loyalty. I also think that being reconciled with his father the king, would be something he wants. As soon as he is found, a messenger will explain the offer. I'm certain that no longer being chased will be a relief to him as well.
Oct 7 359 YPC

How he found me..i'll never know.
All of a sudden there was a rough voice behind me...telling me not to move.
Lord Euricle must have sent him.
He tells me Lord Euricle wants to speak with me and to follow him.

I decide to play along.
The assassin elf that found me even let me keep my bow and arrows....kinda scary.
I am escorted to the elven camp where Euricle tries to explain that i am no longer wanted...my father wants to reconcile...and i am to be offered a title, land and gold in exchange for my services.
For king and country..he says.
He had said too much....i put a arrow through his leg.

He fell cursing and all the archers had their sights on me.
He asked me why...why would i do such a stupid thing?

I told him this...
"your offer is faulty...my father has hated me since birth...why would he ever want to reconcile with a half-elf?
I don't need a title...or lands....or money...
I have freedom....and that is everything i need."

Euricle told the archers to stand down.
They relucantly agreed.
I also told him this....
"I know you are also after the men i travel with...
I don'know why...but take my warning.....stay away from us.
If you come after us again, there will be no place you can hide from me."

I'm surprised Euricle let me go after that...
I covered my tracks in case any of the trackers tried to follow me.
Tomorrow, i will be back with the mysterious magician and the outlaw Graham.
October 8th 359 YPC

Luella,

I hope when this reaches you, you’ll have grown accustomed to Duncan’s instructions. I received word from him a few hours ago that you didn’t like the mountains, and were upset that you had to leave the grassy hillside of Dragon Valley. I believe I mentioned to you before that this might be a possibility. As my apprentice you must become accustomed to change. One of the most valuable lessons you will ever learn from me is adaptability. Being a mage is not easy work, it takes practice, change, and the ability to allow one to immerse themselves into their work. Once you have mastered Fyre, you’ll begin to understand.

Now on to things that are going on with me. Graham and I have split up. We are supposed to meet up again in a few days in Yorkvale with Vyrin. I told Vyrin about us going to Yorkvale in-case he wanted to travel with us. One can never turn down good help, and the way he handled himself was admirable. I would like to talk with him more. He seems very adept. I chose Yorkvale because I would be able to gather more information this way. I learned from a few people that there was a contract of death was placed on Langford. However, the person(s) behind it are a mystery for now.

I’m currently in Bishop’s Hallow, a place that I can’t stand. It was here that my father chose to tell me about my lineage, and subsequently tried to use his mental abilities on me. I told you the story of my father didn’t I? He was a hard man who was used to getting his way. He manipulates people to get what he wants, or well, he used to. If he hadn’t done that to my mother, then I wouldn’t be here today. I suppose in that sense, I should be grateful. I can’t forgive the things he did to my mother, and forced me to go through, for that matter.

My mother was the last of the Myrddin line, she had a fiery crimson mane, with bright ruby-red eyes. Her skin was very pale, so pale that many thought she was on fire with the way her hair lit up when hit by the sun. She was a strong woman, and it is from her that I get my courage from, and the power I wield. Well, there is much that I get from my bastard of a father, but my mother is who gave me the defensive magick strength that keeps me safe from all forms of mental magick. My father thought he would be able to learn from her how to do this magick when he kidnaped her, but didn’t realize this is something that is purely born within the family. The Myrddin’s were the only real rivals to the Grimaldi’s. If it wasn’t for my mother being kidnapped things could have taken a very different turn for the Grimaldi’s.

He didn’t realize it until the day he brought be here to Bishop’s Hallow This story is for another time perhaps. Time isn’t on my side. The past threatens to swallow me whole if I stay here any longer. Before I sleep for the night I think I’ll go fishing for some black trout, which is about the only good thing about this place. I’ll end things here, but I’ll contact you again soon.

Stay safe and mind Duncan,

Lucian

To Whomever finds this, Archer I am hoping it is you, but it may be anyone. I have fallen into some sort of trap. A hole, It's led me quite a ways down. I seem to be in some sort of underground cavern. There's some Blind guy named Della wandering around up in the forest, if you find him I think he has my Diary, I'm not sure if he is with us or against us.

I'm going to try to find my way out of here, I attached this note to an arrow and shot it up, The hole should be near where you've found this. If this is Archer I will be heading to the meeting place as soon as I can. May be late.

G.W.
I have grown tired of these setbacks! Everyone that I target gets through my fingers. Clandestine methods have proven to be ineffective. I will now implement a direct attack. I don't care about controlling the magic user, apprehending Vyrin, or gaining information from those around him like Graham. My plan is to assemble a fifty soldiers and wipe out everyone! First I must coerce the king into heeding my plan. They will all face their doom at my hands!
October 9th 359 YPC

I have finally arrived at Yorkvale....what a place!
I have never seen so many people in one place...even at the elven capital.
I have used up the last of my money to hold up in a inn

I think it was called...Darkhold...Darkbane...Darklord...Dark something....
Anyways...i should be able to stay here a couple days with my downpayment and wait for that magi to show up.
When we reunite, we'll discuss our next move.

I don't know why..but my senses are going haywire.....I can sense something...something tht makes me nervous....but i don't know what...
Anyway, this is my final note for the night.
The inn is serving roasted Skywing Trout downstairs in the meeting room.

P.s. Drakenvale was the name of the inn....

To my contact within Drakenvale

I saw them, Lizzle and Zeus, They're travelling through the woods, but they're different. More confident, scarier. Armor and weapons that they couldn't have got from the rebel base. I don't know what happened since the last time I saw them and perhaps I don't want to. I'm going to follow them If I Have not made it to the city within two days, assume I will not.

I have left this letter with a messenger heading to the city I hope this finds you safely,

Sincerely,
The Wanted Man
I have learned the location of Vyrin and those he has contact with. I have convinced the king of that there is a conspiracy among our neighboring kingdoms to conquer Slavengard. Vyrin has taken up short residence in the peaceful city of Yorkvale. I have deceived the king to make him believe that there are secret hostile forces inside Yorkvale from the kingdom of Nethaal. The corrupt human kingdom's name alone evokes dread in the hearts of elves even to those like Vyrin. I have convinced the king that a coo has taken over the Yorkvale's government. However, Vyrin is a strong foe and and and even stronger ally. I have sent a messenger to him with an ultimatum; join me or I will destroy everyone in my path. If he has any sense, he'll see he has no choice.
Oct 10 359 YPC

It's been several days since my last entry. Lizzle and I have been busy accomplishing different... tasks that I will have to share at a later date. For right now, we have accomplished quite a bit. We managed to find that imbecile Graham and we captured him. I can feel the fear in him, so Lizzle and I have decided to take advantage of this. We are not yet sure what we want to do with him, but one thing is sure. We are going to make him pay for what he did to our home. What was once a place of malice turned into a place of hope and peace. Neither Lizzle nor myself appreciate this change. Graham ruined our home. Now, we will ruin him.
Oct 10th 359 YPC

Bad news has reached my ears. Euricle has sent a messenger to the inn i am staying and the message says thus: i have given you every chance to come to your senses, and you have spat in my face each and every time. No more Vyrin. Your father, our great king, has given us permission to gather our forces and march against Yorkvale. This is your last offer before the march. Join us or we will take you don along with Yorkvale.

This was not good....Yorkvale had no militaristic force of any kind....the others had not yet arrived...and i did not want to face Slavengards forces. Some of them were still my friends. I did not want to fight.
I told the messenger to tell Euricle my answer has not changed since i saw him last.

He bowed and exited the inn.
I hope my friends arrived soon....otherwise, i would need to think of something....and quick!

I contact you now Apprentice on my way to Yorkvale. I am about a day or two away from Yorkvale. It looks like things are really taking a turn for the worse, and about time I revealed who I really am. I ran into some trouble with someone traveling in the woods with some type of magic canceling shackles on. Now, I had second thoughts about letting this person free, but decided I could handle myself. I wasn’t expecting what I found.

Here is what happened:

As I hopped off of Starfire I could smell the stench of this seemingly older man. He was blind from what I could tell at first glance, and another thing that made my senses go off was the fact that he was in possession of a book that I recalled Graham Winters having the last time I saw him.

As I came closer to the man I felt I knew him from somewhere, but I just couldn’t place it.

“Hello, is someone there?” I heard him ask.

“Yes, My name is Archer Caine.” I replied. “ I can’t help but see that you are in possession of an item an acquaintance of mine once had.” I said, pointing at the object in the mans hands. I then realized the man couldn’t see the action.

“The book in your hands.” I said at last, taking the time to look the man over. He was deathly thin, with ragged clothing covering the bones he had for a body. His skin was a pale white and had a bluish tinge to it. He was hunched with age, and the stench that I caught earlier became more powerful. It took all I had to stay the bile that threatened to rise from my stomach.

“Oh, yes. There was a young man that had begun to help me. He put these on me.” The old man said, lifting his wrists showing me the manacles.

Hmm, that doesn’t look like he was trying to help. Maybe there was something sinister to this old man, or Graham isn’t the man I thought he was. I thought, as I inspected the manacles from a distance.

“What is your name?” I asked.

“Della Moore.” he replied with a shuttering cough.

“Well, Della Moore, where is my acquaintance Graham? I asked, taking in my surroundings. Something just didn’t seem right about this.

“I don’t know, I thought I heard him yell then there was silence. I thought I heard the twang of a bow so I ran,” he confessed.

I could tell by his expression on his face that he was telling me the truth. Still there was something about this man that I just couldn’t shake. I made the decision to take the manacles off. I commanded my power to flow through my hand as I cast a level 4 shielding spell over myself. The blue aura of the spell washed over me then vanished from sight. I then went to work to take the manacles off the older man.

Using words you’ll soon learn and praying to the Goddess Ashire I sent the green tendrils of the unlocking spell toward the manacles. The manacles dropped to the forest floor with an audible clink. It was then the older man did something I didn’t expect.

“Thank you Master Caine.” Della gushed.

“It was nothing.” I said simply. Then I noticed a distinct change in the atmosphere around the old man and I.

Della Moore began to laugh although I would say it was more of a cackle. He then straightened himself. Standing at his full height I would have to say that he was about my height. The color of his skin changed too. It turned from that pale white to a healthy cream color. The eyes that once saw nothing had pupils that stared back at me in the form of a stormy grey. The gaunt features of his face changed slightly to a more pointed than oval shape. Della’s clothing began to move as if blown by an invisible wind knitting themselves back together into a dark green pair of slacks with a purple cotton shirt. A cape sprouted from nowhere with a hood that covered his head shielding his face from my view.

I stood stock still trying to make sense of what was happening. A golden aura surrounded the once old man I knew as Della. I can’t place the overwhelming feeling that I felt, but something inside of me wanted to unleash the power I held to battle this man. I knew I sensed something off with about him, and now that I saw that he was a wizard of my level, a hunger sprung within me to test my skills.

So, I made a transformation of my own. Only without all the dramatics. I stood there staring at his man as Archer Caine, and then I unleashed my power letting the spell of change go to reveal my true self as Lucian Grimaldi.

“So, I understand now that you are not Della Moore.” I stated, preparing myself to do battle.

The laughter that erupted from this man seemed so familiar.”That is a matter of opinion.”

I pulled my sword from my scabbard.” Well, either way I’m thinking you did something to Graham, so you understand that I must kill you.”

Lifting his hands to the hood he shrugged it off his head.”You would really kill your teacher?”

To say that I was surprised was an understatement.

I can’t finish this now, but it would seem that the real Della Moore has been sent to Yorkvale with enough gold to live happily for at least a year. In return for this Della told my teacher about Graham, and how he needed help. When I send you my next letter it will detail what happened in our exchange along with my teachers true name.

To The beautiful Lizzle:

10 reasons that I would be better kept alive than dead as per your request

1.You were my favourite Student

2. I taught you the skills that helped catch me.

3. I can teach you more.

4. I know more about these lands and can show you how to survive.

5. I have some investment in property and could pay you well.

6. I am wanted and would be worth a lot more money alive.

7. Torturing me would be much crueller than killing me.

8. I can lead you to the man that attcked you and fled that night.

9. I can help you raise the means to take back the city.

10. I know a powerful mage that can help you

With great respect, From your grossly incompetent minion.
That fool Vyrin! What nerve of that pest. He has turned me down. The blood of the innocent will be on his head. Come to think of it, perhaps destroying everyone in Yorkvale and burning it to the ground is not the most prudent option. I have decided to conquer this small city. It would give me a strategic advantage to eventually taking power of the land. Yes, I see now. Instead of obsessing over one man, I should rather look to the broader spectrum. I have a new goal; take control of the land! Town by town, city by city and kingdom by kingdom. There is only one problem; The king is not interested in power. Convincing him to carry out this agenda will be a task even for me. If only the king were not alive. Hmm...perchance there is a way to remedy this dilemma.

I'm not sure what is going on, but Lizzle is acting strange. She doesn't seem so violent and hostile. She actually suggests that we spare Graham's life! Of course I want him to die, but I have to make sure to keep her happy. I have to figure out what's going on with her! I'll write soon when I get this all figured out. Too much is going through my head right now!

I spent the entire day readying my supplies...arrows tipped with poison, a short sword in case the fighting gets close, and a comfortable leather tunic.
Should Euricle or anyone else try and attack here, they will soon realize their mistake.

I hid the sword and arrows somewhere safe...still closeby in case i need them. The tunic i decided to wear...it's comfortable after all....
My senses are still on edge...something is definitely coming...

As i sit in the inn, i start to wonder....where are the others?
I can't defend this town alone....i will need them if i am to succeed....

Dear Luella,

I'll pick up where I last left off after my teacher revealed himself to me:

Lord Asuri stepped forward with his hand extended. “I thought I taught you better than that?”

“What the hell are you doing around here old man.” I said taking his hand laughing.

He pulled me into a hug patting me on the back. Then pushed me away to get a good look at me. “You have grown and well.”

“It has been a while since I last saw you Lord Asuri “

“It has indeed, and I bring bad tidings with me. I have learned through different channels that an attack is imminent on Yorkvale.” He said, pausing to allow his words to sink in.

“What are you talking about? I know there seems to be some Lord Euricle that aspires to have power, but I don’t think the King would allow him off his leach.

“My apprentice, you still underestimate the seduction of power.”

“It was would seem that I do.” I agreed.

“I came to seek your council only to find that our dear friend Langford has been murdered. What do you know of this?” He asked, with fire in his eyes.

I relayed the information I have come to know. Including Vyrin and his ability to smell magic, and last but not least all I knew about Graham.

“Yes, there has been much talk about this Graham Winters.” Lord Asuri stated evenly.

He began pacing, which meant he was in deep thought.”This Euricle has sent an army to take on Yorkvale, but who is to say he will stop there?”

“I don’t know. Yorkvale has no army to withstand an all out attack.” I replied.

“Master, I know you have long ago given up fighting, and would wish no part in this. I will do what I can to protect Yorkvale. I do have a spell that could at least hold them-“ I began to say.

“Don’t even think about it.” Lord Asuri snapped. “I know what spell you speak of, and to produce a shield of that size alone could even kill you my son. “ He had stopped his pacing and came to stand before me. He placed his hands on my shoulders. “You are the closest thing I have to a child. You are so much more than my prodigy. You are the heir to my throne. Which is another reason why I came to search for you.” He finished.

I was shocked to say the least. “But-“ was all I was able to say.

“No, Yorkvale will have an army to contest with Slavengard.” Lord Asuri declared.. “And to head the army will be the newest Prince of the Everheart Kingdom, Lucian Grimaldi.”

So, there are good things and bad things happening. To put things in perspective...

1. I’m now Prince Lucian Grimaldi. It does have a certain ring to it, doesn't it?

2. I’m going to lead an army of Everheart soldiers in battle to protect Yorkvale.

3. I’m going to find Graham Winters

I have sent word to Vyrin at the Inn in Yorkvale to be ready for us. As I send this to you Lord Asuri is on his way to Everheart Palace to rally the troops, while I’m on the trail of Graham Winters.

When I write to you next I should have Graham with me again.

The king has rejected my request to lay siege to those vile inhabitants of Yorkvale. If only there was a way to get him out of the way. I have it! There is a small but fortified human city called Wrethmire. This is what I will do. I will tell the king that he has been welcomed to Wrethmire as a guest but will tell Trathoes, the king of Wrethmire, that Slavengard is advancing an attack on the human city. When Slavangard is half way to the city, Wrethmire will slaughterer the king and all those loyal to him. Then I will seize control of the kingdom and attack Yorkvale.

I awoke early this morning...something makes me feel restless and i cannot sleep.
I gather my things and go scouting for some food...i can no longer afford to eat or stay at the inn.
What a shame.

Not too far outside of town i see a nice sized deer. I hit it in one shot and it falls to the ground.
I take only what i need, hide the rest of the carcass, and head back to town.
Since i can't stay at the inn, i decide to wait in a alley close by.

I find a homeless firepit there and i start one to roast some of the deer i captured.
Now all i have to do is wait until the others arrive...or at least hope they notice me over here.

Still can't believe that it's late morning....i must have gotten up real early.
It is done. The king has been annihilated. As the highest ranking noble, I an now ruler. My plan now is to fortify my power over the nearest provinces. I'll start with Yorkvale. Not even magic users, will not be able to withstand a fifty elf army. Before do attack, I will give Yorkvale a chance to surrender. It's inevitable that I shall triumph!

I can hardly believe the news....my father...the king of slavengard has been killed trying to invade Wrethmire.
The local newscarriers rushed the news to all provinces human and non-human alike. News like this only comes once in a great while.

While i'm sure the people of Slavengard are mourning his loss, i can only imagine what is going on there now.
I don't know who is in charge...or what they have planned for Slavengards future.

Not like it matters to me anyways....i'm content with just being here.
Now i just have to get ready...and wait for the others return.
This adventure to be continued in 'Whispers Across Torlok'

Thank you All for your participation. I enjoyed this story and look forward to the next

Stay tuned for more. This is not!
