The second of my collections of poems written for "Express It In Eight."
As usual these days, I choose blog format because it offers more space for the work.

A curtain blows in the breeze to touch a table.

Nemesis

The curtains billow with the breeze from an open window
like sails set in the darkness of a moonless night
they caress the stiff form of the high table in attendance
sentry to the silent room lit by a beam from an errant streetlight.

Evidence of bedtime’s last cocoa ritual of long ago
a cup and saucer braves the flow of air and movement
a stalwart figure on the lonely height of spotlight frozen
suspended time now prepares the waiting fate for action.
