The Gift of Christmas Wishes
Christmas Day's one week away
and still our tree is bare.
Do we need a gift display
to show we truly care?

Tonight we talked about the waste
of things we do not need.
We pondered such expensive taste,
the penchant toward greed.

"We could just wrap some boxes up,
some boxes filled with air.
"The show would fill our artsy cup,
and photo'd be, 'So, there!'"

I said these words, but thought some more,
"We could speak wish inside."
"I love this thought! I so adore
this heart-felt gift!" wife cried.

"So, when the Day hath lately come
the packages be few,
From heart the gift will be the sum
of hopes I have for you."
