The Quest for Home, Chapter #7
Respect is what we all desire
along this Earthly way,
But some folks think they go up high'r,
when hurtful words display.

A child must trust adults to lead
in ev'ry little thing,
To wash our hands, with spoons to feed,
and joyfully to sing.

When tying shoes we try and try,
and sometimes try again,
Before we can with ease apply
the principles to win.

Yet, when she stands with huffy frown
and says, "How dumb you are!"
The confidence goes quickly down.
Success is now quite far!

Such heartless soul with churlish tongue,
we really must correct
That talented, the child be sung,
no precious heart neglect.

This was my story long ago,
when learning shoes to tie.
Success is mine with shoes I know
as finish lines pass by.

I hope that lady learned a truth
that shoes do not define
The skills of five-year-old or youth
as lifetime doth refine.
