Something Positive
PROMPT: Motivational Monday! Krist Novoselic, the Nirvana bassist who was born on this day in 1965, said "But whenever history is in the making, there's some kind of intangible feeling." Do you think this is true? Have you ever had a feeling like that before, where you knew you were on the verge of something positive?
I have yet to create a cure for cancer, or write a bestseller, or break a world record in or of anything. There's no association past or present with a band, so I have no hit song, or reputation to flaunt. Mine is a mundane life.
My life-partner and I were nineteen when we wed. It wasn't a shotgun ceremony; we wanted to get married. Oh, there was opposition, but we were convinced it was the right thing for us. I was a student and my hubby had just left the stifling world of competitive figure skating. We had no long-term goals, just a fervent conviction that everything would be fine. Never did we believe we'd taken a risk. I never had any misgivings or regret.
We leapt into parenthood much the same way; a let's-go-for-it attitude. We armed ourselves with faith and commitment. We chose to ignore the what-ifs and embrace the why-nots. We were blessed with three children; they are my 'something positive'.
