Prompt: What's more important to you.... one or two friends you can tell absolutely anything to, or any number of friends you can see only on certain occasions?
Hmmm.... substance over quantity . I'm going to vote for both. With my hubby, I enjoy the benefits of a best buddy. For many years now, he's been my cheerleader, my unquestioning supporter, and my confidante. I may joke that I'm a truckers widow, but we speak via cellphone most days. He may vent about crazy drivers and trip delays and dispatching dilemmas. He shares tidbits about the countryside he's viewing and the weather he's enduring. We discuss the latest news stories . I update the family happenings. We stay connected.
I also stay in touch with 'old' school chums via Facebook and e-mails. At the moment, we are scattered across too much geography for regular face-to-face get-togethers. We share gossip, photos, memories, and our personal current events. Before this past Christmas, we gathered for a weekend reunion. We didn't miss a beat; we still felt comfortable with each other.
