HOT WATER
PROMPT: WAR CHEST WEDNESDAY! If you had to introduce yourself by either a phrase or a quote and that is all you can say at the event, what would you choose and why?
Hmmm, another prompt requiring self-analysis and self-awareness. At the moment, I'm waiting for a pot of tea to steep, so tea is at the forefront of my thoughts. It's also pouring rain and the chant "rain, rain go away, come again another day" is echoing in my noggin'. Shall I be mysterious at this event, whatever it is? Perhaps I could pull off coy. More than likely I'd radiate strange. Okay, I confess, I'd probably be awkward.
So, here is my unforgettable quote: "A woman is like a teabag; you never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water." This has been attributed to former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt.
I interpret this to mean a woman is capable of great strength and she will not only discover this , but exemplify this under stress. I am an every woman. I'm not special. I have experienced highs and lows, triumphs and failures, joy and sorrow; in short, I've lived. Every big and little event has shaped me. Nothing can be undone or separated. I've persevered. Sometimes, the hot water has been scalding, but I salvaged something from it.
