Are the darkest ones tomorrow
the brightest of today?
Do we shop for action or for traffic,
or to cause loss of right of way?
We sleep with one eye open
to catch the pain as it begins.
We move mountains and buildings
to move mountains and buildings again.
I got a face that stops the subway.
I got an ass (inside) that don't quit.
I launch a thousand ships in every direction
just to ensure I get at least one hit.
Are the darkest ones tomorrow
the brightest of today?
Is it wine before its time or just vinegar
that we use to piss the day away?
Talking? Or chirping?
What is that you say?
I can see you comin' for miles
but my ears deafen you out of the way.
Is it a good life being blinded,
or a blind life being good
that earns any distinction?
Like either of them should.
An ass- an ass I say-
an ass that will not quit.
Heading into another station,
still this big bus shall cease to quit.
Are the darkest ones tomorrow
the brightest of today?
If buffaloes had wings,
don't you think they'd fly away?
This one's for Syracuse,
and this one's for Ra-cha-cha.
This one here's for Albany,
where we up & lost 'em all.
I got one for the city of Buffalo
and one for O-N-T.
But the biggest one I got
on my hand is for NYC.
They'll love ya & drug ya
and lead you straight on.
Then the moment you pipe up when they forget ya,
man, it's the start of the biggest shame-chase around.
Are we the darkest of tomorrow
if we're the brightest of today?
Don't let that defeated city beat you baby-
it's time to push it out of the way.
