Funny Friday

I went to my doctor the other day and she said: "I want you to join a gym to get more exercise."

I said, "Doc, gym memberships are expensive. Is there any other way I can get the exercise?"

She wrote me a prescription to a grocery store that changes its shelving arrangement every week.

Attempting to rewrite
"Random Thoughts on Life and Transition"
before my first cup of coffee
is difficult...
perhaps impossible.

I look at the digits
on the clock,
I ask myself:
When did I take my thyroid med?

No answer,
because my foggy
non-caffeinated mind
isn't even sure
I took the medication
until I check my pillbox.

Dealing with
poetry and grammar
will have to wait until
there is Folgers in my cup.

to go shopping for

barbecue sauce,
turkey franks,
peanut butter,
and horseradish mustard.

Today's lesson
eat more then two bowls
of dry cereal before
going to the grocery store
on Saturday morning.

Distant thunder reverberated,
but I didn't see lightning strike.

I took the trash
to the dumpster in the alley,
with the sun shining in my eyes.

I found that only one of the dumpsters
has the lid open
and I wondered why the other ways closed
for the second week in a row.
