I cannot guess
from the form
or the weight.
Its energy
is ominous
Is there a meaning
in the rosette
perched like
a nipple on
the paper?

With its florid
bouquets
peeling off
like a bandage
to reveal

brown paper
tied with string
over cellophane
crinkled and red
as a scar
over clowns

every layer
revealing another

this package,
Russian dolls
with some evil

baby in the layers
dead fists balled
or splayed in question?

Layers of wrapping.
Can't get
to the bottom
of what
you have given.
