Poetry: A personal definition
The April 4, 2013 prompt for "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS is
April is National Poetry Month - Write about what poetry means to you.

Poetry
echoes from my soul
descending through mental corridors;
electrical charges
moving from dendrite to axon,
from neuron to neuron...
become line and stanza
metaphor and simile.

For me writing poetry is a way of dealing with my emotions.
For me writing poetry is a way of breaking the events in my life to bite size pieces.
For me writing poetry is an act of love.
For me writing poetry is worshiping God.

For me reading poetry is a connection to the past.
For me reading poetry is a connection to the future.
For me reading poetry is a connection to humanity.
For me reading poetry is a connection to the divine.

A poem
is a breath
my spirit exhaled.

Food for Thought: "When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses." - John F. Kennedy
