Admirable People: The Unsung Heroes

Describe an individual whom you know and admire. What traits do you like about this person?

Admirable people:
How do I chose just one individual,
when each day
a thousand unsung heroes confront
the terror
of prejudice,
oppression,
and death,
with the courage
that comes
from facing their fears
and standing firm
on a foundation of nonviolence
in a violent world.

It is the steadfastness,
the faith,
and the sacrifices
of these unsung heroes
that will carry humanity through
the hate
of this present Armageddon
to emerge
as the builders
of a planetary civilization
and the parents
of a unified humanity.

It is these unsung,
these anonymous heroes
that I admire.
