Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills.

Rain subsides.
The rain subsides. Last night it was a torment bringing down trees, interrupting our lives. Tonight's rain has been gentle.

But gentle rains can also seem sad. The diminuendo reminds me of the endings of things.

me:

My friend Sam offered to store my stuff... I hadn't planned to store anything anywhere but here, but two months' rent is $500 and although that doesn't seem much it's expensive for storage. So I'm going to store at Sam's and give up my place.

Giving up my place means looking for another on my return or going back to living in hotels. The Chirripó has a 5% discount for a week. Not thrilled but it might be doable. 3 months of traveling ...could I do it? I could always find another place of course. Possibly cheaper... The 3 month visa limitation is a bite.

And then there is Norway come next May. Europe seems to work on 6 month visas. 3 months in Norway would put me underwater financially about $3,000. For 3 months in Europe I might only go under a few hundred. If I can find $5,000 I might just do it, then learn how to go camping, couchsurf as much as possible and just go with the flow.

Could I become a rolling stone for a year or two? It's frightening y'know. It could be an incredible experience and might help me get over a lot of personal baggage. At this point in my life it wouldn't matter if it killed me. A pointless, boring existence wouldn't be worth living.

Staying put in Montana wouldn't be boring, but traveling for a year or two means giving up my place there or sub-letting it. A year would save $4,200. If I don't resolve that I'd have to find $9,000 instead of just $5,000.

It would be easy but ill-advised to become envious of some people's multi-million incomes.

I just need to make this work for me.
