Another Sunday morning in Las Vegas
Jamál (Beauty), 11 Asmá’ (Names), 166 BE – Sunday, August 30, 2009 about 6:37 AM Pacific Time

It's another Sunday morning in Las Vegas. I look out my living room window and see the sun shining on my garage roof. The sky is transforming from first light white to dawn pink then to daylight blue. The day has begun beautiful and bright.

The new week begins full of joy and potential. Soon a new month will begin, which will make only four months remaining in 2009. September is the anniversary of 9/11, I haven't written a poem about that event in a couple of years. All though, I think instead of a poem I might want to write my memory of those events. The world has changed since the World Trade Center crumbled.

I say crumbled because that is the part I remember best. I saw the news photos of the planes striking the towers and of the tower falling to dust. It the tower crumbling, falling to dust that remain fixed in my mind. I think because the crumbling of the tower is symbolic of something. I'm just not sure what it symbolizes to me. I'm going to have to figure that out.
