Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills.

{c:PankCaddylack} A response to Mandy's prompts.

I was a long lovely slink
a whipped cream capped convertible
my chassis a luscious pink.

I was a love song
on a long lonely road
a love couch parked
beneath the old busstop.

I was cherished, mi amor.

Until some wannabe Elvis tried to ride
my pristine top.

Damn him.

Once I could outrun the cops.
Look at me now in this bare parking lot;
worn out where the love-song stopped.

Urn

Come smell my breath, O Love.
The faint tobacco of sweet petunia
overflows my rim and beauty
covers the ancient reek of death.

In peppermint swirls of red-and-white
they bloom. Come see this transformation
to light from dusty gloom and cry not
for the grey-bone ashes that you seek.

Her eyes: deep as black-eyed-Susans.
His hair: rough-stemmed golden rods.
Their bed: a pillow of red and ivory clover.

Madonna of the Prairie

So proud and standing tall,
Black Locust,
your fern-like leaves entice;
but, should I ever trespass there
your thorns won't warn me twice.

Geese read the library's lawn.
Swallows swoop to hear their stories.

Mandy's late-summer breeze

Swaying on a purple prairie clover,
this is what Downy, the woodpecker sees:

August milkweed feeding the butterflies,
bull thistles enticing fat bumblebees,
cattails waving to Iowa cornfields,
Mandy walking through a late-summer breeze.

The title comes from Seals and Crofts. "We may never pass this way again" was playing at The Break Espresso. But this song seems more apropo.

These poems are from Mandy's prompts in her plog's entry:"Invalid Entry
