Carolina flesh-fry ... for Ken
Carolina flesh-fry

         for Ken

Brains like
fried eggs
legs acramping
chest acrying
arms akimbo

too much sun

flesh flayed
bacon bled
homegrown tomatoes
don't glow
that red

redder
than dead
lobsters
boiled or baked.

Now Ken's
ready
for a
Carolina crabcake

sweet tea
fish eyes
sliced tomatoes
battered green tomatoes
ever-so-gently
fried.

Well, Carolina Blue made a comment last blog and I couldn't help myself!

I'm doing a mini-project I call "Flarfing Jane Austen". *Shock* Working on a sestina. *Rolleyes*

Bleh.

No energy. Nyet. Nada. Must be summer. Nice now, but it will be brutal later. My place doesn't cool down until very late (early morning).

Got to market. Ate a brat with sweet peppers. Bought a bag of cherries.

Came home for a cold café-au-lait.

Must remember to take computer and go find some shade instead of baking here. With broadband it's portable like my phone. *Rolleyes* Gotta put Skype on too!

A couple nights ago saw and chatted with Shelley Kirilenko who did a reading/signing of her short stories, Evening in Missoula. I wrote her a poem last year "Fertility [lightly revised, own item now, needs stronger title] after taking notes while she spoke about her book Blue Kimono. Saw Luke too! He is 6 going on 7.

Nona was at Fact & Fiction today greeting people for a child's book she wrote. Saw Kate and Frances.

Been thinking about a future trip to Washington to see my sister and a return trip to Costa Rica.

Blogville

I could contribute to the discussion about yellow-case, black-case, blue-case. But... I'm mostly a writer and blogger and try to avoid drama. I don't do chat, am not active in forums, gave up on reviewing (too energy draining), don't want the responsibility of becoming blue-then-purple.

I do know that there are many incredible writers here that are black-case (and may remain so for who-knows-what reason). I do think that blogging is under-rated (beyond the drivel) and perhaps serious essay-writing as well. I do think that most folks would appreciate being acknowledged. I know I do. So... all I can do is read and support everyone's writing efforts as best I can.

My preferred case? I want a certified orange-and-green hand basket to go. *Bigsmile*

Montana: 82° at 1 p.m. in Missoula. Going up to 95?
North Carolina: 88° at 3 p.m. in Fayetteville. Humid.
