Debussy and daffodils. "In your topaz dream"
"The Girl with the Flaxen Hair" moves me. One of Claude Debussy's evocative but easier pieces, it is known by millions and probably being played somewhere by someone at this very moment. At YouTube I've found versions on harp, marimba, guitar, violin, piano, brass, horns and electronic. It has inspired people to wirte, compose and perform.

In your topaz dream

         for Michelle

You sparkle like houses clinging to cliffs of Capri;
like moonstones of marble cut from the Alps; you're in Italy
holding fast to a dream of wandering afar,
of light fading in the hour before dawn.
You define the yellow of Sun; you're the blue Dog Star.
You are radiance captured in stone, cut to a gem.
They name you Topaz, assign you some worth.
But you are worthy of more.
No star that has fallen to Earth is more precious
than the light in your heart you have stored.

blah-blah-BLAH-blah-blah:

Thursday: Went with Hobie to Nona's for the writer's group meeting. I read a group of "Montana" poems that met with their approval. They especially liked "Ides of Buttercup" (the one written for David) and "Tablets of Bone"; although, there was a strong connection to "Mending Fences". Both Hobie and Kate stated that they were taken "there". Odd experience for me to hear this ... because I'm not from Montana. *Confused*

Friday: Shelly made me do it. Yep. It's HER fault I wrote the poem in response to her blog. *Smirk* Otherwise? Meh. Did get to read a couple poems to Alex the barista at The Break Espresso.

Saturday: Rose-is-Rose called me at the un-godly hour of 9:40! I made it to MahJong at the library ... barely on time. I did majj once. *Smile*
