Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills.

Time to stoke embers
Time to stoke embers

As it snowed above and slushed below,
the old man remembered
Spring-in-the-mountains,
the piles of white in the passes,
the trickle of melt coursing mud.
If he could only get rid of this crud
in his lungs, the halt in his step,
the receding hairline above,
he might also remember
the snowline coming down then going back up
and his youthful flirtations with love.
It was time to stoke embers.
With slush down below and snow up above,
it had been a long time.

For some reason this line was the prompt: "The falling snow that had carpeted the street turned to slush under the buses but frosted the LE SEX LIVE 24/7 billboard above them like confectioner's sugar." [page 10 in Murder in Montmartre] I wrote down, 'snow above and slush below' and later 'when there's snow on the roof, it is time to stoke embers'.

ME:

Walked to the store on a partly sunny day. Remembered to buy soap. *Smile* And bread and eggs and coffee! Little things can brighten the day. LIKE THE SUN. I collected black aspen leaves, brown pear leaves, purple smoke bush leaves.

It was damp and drizzly later. I went downtown like always, but came home early. Leaflets of locust are littering the place.

I'm reading a Cara Black murder mystery placed in Paris, Murder in Monmartre.

Managed to run into Daniel again and the usual suspects of course. Remembered it was Saturday and called my aunt and mother.

Montana won its game against Portland State, so that was okay too.

It's in Swedish (some English) about Salish language retention programs here in Montana about an hour north of where I live. I have a friend whose husband has worked many years on this.

IdaLin has moved out and moved on; she could use your support.

Iowegian Skye found someone in her home town in Iowa that alfred booth, wanbli ska in Paris has been looking for.

Yes, we live in a small interconnected world.
