Dee Election
Dee Election:

Obviously, only Americans can vote for prez, but that doesn't mean that the rest of the World doesn't have an opinion. Bush, for instance may have won in 2000 and 2004, but he was not popular in much of Western Europe and certainly not Quebec where his approval rating was 11%. This election is being followed worldwide as well. Here is a link where you can vote (you can also view results without voting):

Now mind you, some places haven't voted in large numbers yet. And 1.) more educated 2.) wealthier and 3.) younger people will be voting in larger numbers as they have the greatest access to computers and the internet. Still a month from now, trends will be apparent as people take sides in the debate [Obvious already: Finns love to share their opinion via internet! *Bigsmile*]. Come November, regardless of the outcome here, the world will have weighed in on this election too.

Gnus:

1. Is Palin's cheerleader looks and personality creating a backlash among women? This article explores why that may be:

2. That Alaskan accent:

http://www.slate.com/id/2201318/

Recently I told Lauren who hails from Fairbanks that she should not apologize, rather embrace her Alaskan roots, especially when she is speaking about real or imagined Alaskan people, places, events. As a poet, dialect should be touted when relevant or when performed.

As for Sarah ... I don't mind her speech anymore than I minded Bush's. It borders on arrogance to think that only folks with proper speech can run a company, even one as large as U.S.A. Inc.

3. The term maverick is being misused according to the original Mavericks of Texas:

I actually enjoyed this article. The final line about McCain being 'branded' has a certain ring of truth to it. Obama, Biden and Palin are branded too, of course. American politics, like all its other commercial products, demands a name brand. Generic refers only to secretaries and staff (who do all the real work).

ME:

I give up. I'm overwhelmed, so Sushi.5 will have to wait till next week. These coupla days will be best spent preparing for winter. There are plums to harvest, geraniums to get inside. Snow is in the forecast for Friday, with 20s at night over the weekend. When the clouds clear up, the mountain peaks will be white.

Blogville

"Invalid Entry by AliceNgoreland is an interesting read about family tradition "witchcraft" in Appalachia. What traditional 'nature' customs are used where you live?
