Snow dragon
White dragon

for the Friday night Mah Jong ladies

As ivory as soap,
a dragon breathing snow,
a naught signifying nothingness,
this century, this year;
cold companion to uncashed coins,
nine numbered dots.

Its blankness hides
among the walls of three opponents,
breathes only when you seek the heat of red,
the growth of green, when needed melts
into another's hand.
As plain and pure as ivory soap,
as heartless as his wintry land.

The white dragon tile in Mah Jong is also known as soap.

ME:

I showed my "Sushi" to folks at Celtic connection. Michelle suggested I make 25 of them to sell at the counter.

They only cost about 4 cents a piece to make, but she pointed out the time and effort that I should be paid for. So ... she suggested around $1.25; but, I'm thinking $1, since they are for dollar sushi night!

Actually, the cost is higher than 4 cents, but hard to quantify. I bought a stapler, staples, and a razor. And there are other incidental costs as well.

I'm a bit unsettled tonight by this good news and even better news.

I got a call from a local place and looked at a room. I took it! It's very small, but has two windows facing south-east, a refrigerator, a stove, a small sink. The room is not in great condition. I'll put up with that.

I'll have to share a toilet, showers and a bathtub.

Rory helped me get my stuff there and lent me a skillet and a pot. Also a plastic 'raft' to sleep on. It will be rough until I get a few things. But ... my experience in Kansas taught me that those things will come.

I have the smallest room there. Most are twice the size and I'll grab one when it becomes available.

Cost? $300 as compared to $600. I'm giving up some things, but this will be more sustainable over the long run.

So ... this is my last night at the motel. If it were cheaper and about 3 foot larger, I would have stayed. (The call came at the right time; my month here was until the 13th)
