Enga mellom fjella: where from across the meadow, poems sing from mountains and molehills.

Eight-eight-eight

This soggy way is strewn
with buttercup and forget-me-not,
those flowers of May and June
that somehow manage yet to bloom
in cool damp August shade.

I try not to think of you
while focusing on thorny undergrowth,
on stony ground that hurts my feet
between the braided waters
of this mountain valley floor.

The Rattlesnake roars by,
its channel choked from rains.
I try in vain
to stay upright and dry
past pastures and the million dollar homes.

I climb a fence to fall upon
the wooden bridge
to Woodland Road
and leave the deer to browse on buttercups
to take the path back home.

One of my musings after battling my way down the wrong-side (read no official paths) of the Rattlesnake River. Yes, there were forget-me-not and buttercup in bloom in August!

ME:

Hmmmm ... momma said there would be days like this ...

I'm fine, but I sometimes I feel like a fool and the last two days have confirmed that. Oh well. Nothing is broken.

Got to the grocery store and caught a rainshower on the way back. Wet here isn't quite as wet as wet is in Kansas. There's even a lack of humidity when it's raining. *Rolleyes*

I didn't get a picture of the double rainbow over Jumbo.

Had a ham and cheese sandwich though.

Montana: 74º at 23:00.
