Football teams win. "First face"
No rants today! Yay! (Actually, I'm saving up for Tuesday. *Smirk*)

ME:

Duh ... stupid me. Z's opens at 7 on Sunday mornings and I've put it in my head they don't open till noon. Gotta try to get here earlier so I can go elsewhere in the afternoon.

This evening would be a good time to clean my room and get things together for my trip. It is a week away. Checklist, checklist ...

I need to learn from each trip how to make the journey better. *Smile*

Time also to get my papers organized. I need to submit poems, sure, but I also need to have as many as possible ready for my trip to Montana (on paper and flash drive). I'll have time in the hotel and coffeehouses for reading, writing and editing. Unless ... I get an offer for a hike looking for moose poop. *Smile*

I'll be without a car and without connections; so, I'll only be able to do so much. My friend Cary here thinks I should visit Hamilton. I will ... if a bus runs through it. (like ... a river runs through it ... get it? ***groan***)

FOOTBALL:

My teams won! Kansas and Montana are both 10-0. Kansas will go to a good bowl this year and has a chance of a very good bowl if they beat both Iowa State (beware the overlooked team that improves through the year) and Mizzou. If they go undefeated they will play for the national championship. If not, there will be a revolution in the Heartland!

Montana has won the Big Sky and only has to defeat Montana State next week. MSU isn't having the greatest year, but the game is in Bozeman and the Bobcats are dangerous at home, especially against their instate foes, the Grizzlies. Gonna be bear-cat fight. *Smile*

There is a chance Montana will get a home playoff game. I'll be in town for it! Yes, I planned my trip with this in mind. *Smirk* Kendra said it has been warm, but Montana weather can get chilly before December. Just depends.

First face

The warm salt sea surrounded me
and in this floating world of fog,
all sound was muffled.
Eyes adjusted to translucent sky,
pale as twilight.
And what I knew was meagre;
thoughts were few,
my hunger sated by a cord.
I kicked to kick,
my fingers moved through dreams,
my lips puckering it seems,
but not for peas nor corn.
For this was the face of innocence,
my face before I was born.

You didn't think I'd spare y'all from my poetry, did ya? Just snuck it in at the end to annoy. *Smirk*

This was my answer to a koan: what face did you have before you were born.

This photo I took in Washington could evoke the poetic images too:

Kansas: 70 warm degrees on a grey day.
