Ode to the Wall of Mexico
Ode to the Wall of México

in loving memory of the Berlin Wall, r.i.p.

O Wall!

O Wall of Mexico!

No wall is ever built
to withstand time or human hands,
those grain of sands
that blow and drift
bringing life or death
to all they touch.
Hands build from ignorance or fear,
bury by neglect, tear down
and build again,
include, exclude, preclude,
define what's human,
what's inside the line,
the circle of their love.
What dies despised,
banished beyond the brink, brim, fringe
or lives to gnash its sharpened teeth
and gnaw revenge,
brandish the weapons,
wage war,
sin
... until the walls are breeched.

O Wall.

O Wall of Mexico.

Your rust will tumble, return to dust
as what was riven
mends.

NEWS:

Ah ... the folks at Kansas U can do more than play basketball it seems. Although, jellyfish ain't exactly a high life form (are basketball players? *Smirk*):

Jellyfish fossil's found

And Robert Goulet died. I worked with a guy, Bob Goulet who took a lot of joking because of his name. Oddly, I think he died of lung disease too. I'm trying to remember when I saw Camelot on stage. Mr. Goulet played King Arthur in the '93 version but I don't know whether it was on or off broadway ... My mind remembers and forgets what it chooses. I remember seeing it with my friend Karen way-off B-way! *Bigsmile*

ME:

Met with William, Joanie and Ranita for the Frog Hour yesterday evening. I read "The silk shrouded Rose (I think I can re-edit now) and we-all had a fun time. I don't do birthdays; Ranita doesn't do Mother's Day ... so she suggested I write a poem about yadhtrib (birthday spelled backwards). Works for me! *Smile*

I saw Rob, Jonathan, Edmond, Chris, Carol, Neva, Rodney ... last night. Wonder why I won't sit home in front of the television? I also met Emily Hamilton and since it was almost the Day of the Dead, I wrote a sketch in my journal about her being Emily Dickinson visiting us for a day (she looked well rested ...). I gave her a copy of "Lipstick and then told her I had written something for her too. *Smirk*

Kansas: still cool. We may have our first frost tonight.
