On rice paper

Ink covered pith in broad brush strokes
or small bird tracks. The wren or wrench
of little things that mattered.
One feather more or less inscribed
those thoughts that hollow quills can't quell.
Now slender green greeted Spring
where death of tadpoles birthed new frogs.
A transformation ink can't capture.

I was thinking of the rice fields on the way to Cotton Plant, Arkansas where my father and I spent a night in the Spring of 1972. I would love to visit there for a week or more and write about the place and people.

This is what inspires me and makes me happy. *Smile*

Rice in Arkansas . Woodruff County is one of the rust colored ones.

IMAGES:

From yesterday: water gliding down bare worn rock, a trickling 'water-fall'; 2 boys biking back for their poles, fishing for what? I do not know; Thor, the vulture, Edgar Allen, the crow, Tino the macaw; white butterfly; white asters.

READ in the news:

re Kid Rock: "cocky rocker gets arrested after a waffle house brawl". I wrote a sketch about it ... but fame today, forgotten tomorrow. And sometimes I don't write/edit and post that quick!

*Reading* From Iced by Jenny Siler:

Missoula has always been the kind of town where neighbors wave and people stroll the streets on summer nights eating ice cream. This good cheer can bring a person down. Luckily there's enough sleaze under Missoula's veneer to make the place tolerable.

Cheered me up! It's a well written who-dunnit-suspense novel so I doubt there are that many dead bodies messing up the cool cool waters of the Clark Fork, but Montana does have a culture of guns. At least it doesn't seem that guns are a mandatory accessory like in some parts of Texas. *Bigsmile*

Blue jeans are though. I can attest to that.

Kansas: 58º on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
