Pie

Two cold crows cry,
piercing the peace,
holding off winter,
                   spying PIE à la mode
                             warming the thoughts,
                             teasing their tongues,
                             apple's golden goad.

IMAGES:

Purple bells of morning glory; chartreuse gladiola; clear blue sky; fresh mown grass; sparkling aqua bits of glass.

Overheard:

A poet using these two nouns: syruper and syrup-virgin.

"Girl, where have you been?"
"I've been trapped in Kansas", Ashley.

Ashley: "Poetry should be like oki-yo-e, pictures of the floating world."

Me:

A headache, diarrhea all night and now a headache again.

Kansas: 81º at 2 p.m. under crystalline blue skies.
