A Sense of Completion
My temperament is not such that I work toward goals well. I prefer the journey to the ending. Consequently I have lots of unfinished things in my life and in my writing. One such thing is a short story I started last winter. I asked my daughter to read it, and she said that, while it was "probably cathartic" for me to write, she didn't think it was worth putting time into finishing it.
She's probably right. Still, I wanted to. I don't think it's very good, but I wanted to finish it. So I did that today while taking a break from weeding my vegetable garden plot.
I could always tell how I prioritized things I didn't want to do if I'd rather clean the oven. Weeding is right up there, so finishing the story was my escape.
Rather than post it here, I'll put in the link. I would be glad to have some feedback, to know whether it's worth bothering to continue to work on and edit, etc. I don't
think I have a big need to keep it, but I did need to finish it.
