Letter back for Accounting Writing Assignment
Nick

Business periodical is an accepted "term of art" used in business, that is accepted by people in the profession. No distinction is made between newspapers and magazines. Anyone knowledgeable about business would consider the Wall Street Journal to be a business periodical. My dictionary defined a periodical as "published with a fixed interval between the issues," rather than at regular intervals of more than one day. I would agree that the Stop and Shop brochure may not be "advertising." However, an in-house motivational tool published solely for employees of a specific company does not meet anyone's definition of a "business periodical," as it is not published for use by the general business community. Keep in mind, however, that this had little to do with the grade that you received on your paper. At most, it would have cost you 2 points out of 20. I'm sure you will do
better on the next assignment.

Just for you that wanted to know the outcome of that one. Apparently her dictionary is bigger than dictionary.com. I haven't written anything back to her, just going to accept it and trudge on.
