The Sandman

In dark of night he slips the latch,
to creep through shadows to your room,
with sleeping spell and dreams to match,
while you lie waking in the gloom

He pours the magic into your eye.
immediately you’re in a dream,
all cares forgotten, behind they lie.
But what of him, what is his scheme?

But it would be meaningless to anyone who didn’t see the relevant episode of The Golden Girls, so I steeled myself against such mischief and wrote something a bit more serious.
