That future where dreams run free
like coffee, hot and fresh from the pot,
will grow cold and empty with time,
as the mug, now stained with yesterday,
the ghost of what might have been,
and no amount of scrubbing bubbles
can remove the touch of reality,
the future, now past, in the present.
