Two Tankas
Tanka -Calico

your calico heaves
from bed, gray, arthritic form,
no proud tail to swish,
with clear blue eyes buttoned tight
sunbathes on the floor


Tanka -Mastodon

stoic mastodon
chiseled gray in dirt, extinct.
long, curved tusks battled
buried with its long trumpet
a proboscis stilled
