Inspiration arrives in the middle of the night,
gunshots...
or is it fireworks going off;
this close to the 4th
you never know.
Sometimes
you hear strings strummed,
half asleep
you compose a poem,
write it in your meditation journal--
using a nightlight
or the street light
for illumination--
the next morning
you look at it and ask:
Was it a dream,
or did the woman
in the apartment next door
have her television
too loud again?
Inspiration is everywhere,
you just have to be
conscious enough
to feel its vibrations.
