A Journal to impart knowledge and facts

July 22, 2015

I'm going to start today to record on a daily basis whatever happens to strike my fancy. So, it is a very cool breezy day. I just posted 5 short book reviews to The Monthly Reading Challenge. I'm suppose to put away some winter wood today from the woodpile outside but I'm playing hookey from work to write so starting this blog will get done.

I'm having a daily fight with a flock of English Sparrows that are trying to take over my barn. They are making a terrible mess so they have to go. I have destroyed several nests so far they don't leave but they get out of the barn when I am around. I'm just starting the fight so I guess I don't know how far I have to go to discourage them.

I'm trying not to spread myself to thin on WDC because I find so many things that are interesting here and I am trying to work on a new story. I really enjoy sitting at my desk with a cup of tea and reading blogs on WDC.

What was advice teacher gave you. Did you listen or ignore?

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! HI.

I guess the best advice was "Never volunteer new information. Just answer the questions as straight forward as possible." Yes. I attempted to accomplish answers in this way. It is essential in Journalism to stick to one subject at a time since there is a lot of information out there that is not essential to explain specific subjects.

I had a writing teacher who once said you should wait 5 or 6 days then reread your work. A lot will change in that time. It is not always possible to do this but, actually helps when writing stories.

Bye for now.

More people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them. - Harold J. Smith

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! Hi.

I think this quote brings to much criticism to people. Sometimes it takes years to find out things other people may know and refuse to tell you. Since there is very seldom people around who want to speak plainly about anything that they may have information about in someone's life. Sure, there are mistakes in every person's life. Unless you are close to someone you cannot always tell if something they did was a mistake. I would have to know what kind of mistake this quote is about. Who Harold J. Smith is and what made him say this? There is more here omitted than meets the eye.

My experience is that to speak plainly in concern to someone can get you a nasty behind your back argument. so, most people just don't get involved.

Bye,

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! HI!

I do not make plans for Easter weekend.

I do not make any specific plans for Easter weekend. I will continue daily to study scripture and pray on my own. I have things written to post on writing.com which will get done, I hope. Then, I have a dinner for the two of us planned for Easter day. To me, it is a Holy weekend.

May God's blessing rest on all of you.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! Hi:

Used some elbow grease to clean winter off the front porch. Hope to grow lots of flowers in boxes this year. Just now cleaning the dirty boxes.

Making incredible music from my guitar course. Using an online teacher. I took some lessons from two different teachers in the 1980's. What this professor teaches is incredible. Learning theory not just plunk, plunk.

Not here yet but making progress:

Have a musical day!

Write about an Easter memory

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! *EggR* Hi:

This brings to mind sewing and material. My stepmother made dresses for my stepsister and I. They were violet and a very pretty pattern. The material was organdy. I was trying to think of what year that might have been. I'm not sure, maybe around 1957. At that time organdy was a scratchy material. Pretty did not count if you were used to jeans and tennis shoes. I don't remember having to wear it very often. It was for the Easter service at church and my family did not go very often. Easter Sunday was always a special time for my dad to take us to church.

For my family, Easter Sunday was a church day. A day to dress up and have Easter baskets.

Even every day jeans were made with a heavy denim material at that time. I'm sure it was denser than fabric today. The denser material good for tree climbing and roughing around outdoors. Did not get so many skinned shins.

As for organdy it went out of style, I think. Because I sew,
I became interested in fabrics and noticed when clothing materials started to be made out of much softer fabrics.

Now ladies' jeans are often made out of soft stretchy materials. I have seen ads on TV for jeans boasting of the softness of the fabrics. Happy sewing.

On this day in 1973 the first handheld mobile telephone call was made by an employee of Motorola, who called AT&T's Bell Laboratories. How important is a cell-phone to you? Do you still have a landline phone (telephone wired into your home)? Do you use your phone for more than making phone calls like playing games, taking pictures etc.?

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! HI.

It was difficult the give up our landline. We were tired of being harassed on it, without any way to change the situation. We did give it up as a result of becoming more used to using cell phones. Now, I would not want to go back. Presently, I use it most to communicate with other people. I had games on previous phones, that I liked to play. As a result of pricing, I have given up gaming on my phone and only use it for talk and text. Business and personal; keeping in touch with family.

Have a good day.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! HI!

For me this year it is going to be planning this year's garden. a few years ago, I was introduced to container gardening. No weeding! Now I have lots of yummy vegetables and pretty flowers without weeding. Just water and watch it all grow.
We added containers last year and am going to add more this year. Lots of how to do it on You Tube. Maybe start a new orchard this year. And write more.

Happy April. Looking forward to constantly warmer weather too.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! HI!

They are part of the solar system. I find it amazing that a person has spent many months living on a space station off the earth.

People are exploring the universe with more powerful telescopes. They are finding planets that can possibly be inhabited by humans if we find ways safely to go to them. Also, the expansion of the universe at this time is something to remember.

Cosmologists are to be praised for their efforts in showing the world there is more for humans than the confines of the earth.

Of course, we need to replenish the earth and show we can maintain the beauty and functionality of the planet. It really is up to humankind to make exploring the universe and fixing the earth worthwhile.

Congratulations on your virtual blogging adventure! Hi.

First day of Spring

Temperatures going up and down.
First day of Spring acting like a clown.
When Spring arrives, it enters like a circus.
The next act makes us a little nervous.
Is winter really gone?
Just ask a little fawn.
