I attempt a well-rounded review where I look at the item from a writer's and reader's perspective. I'll tell you what I liked and what I think could be strengthened. I like to think I'm a courteous and helpful reviewer.

My style is varied for the most part meaning that sometimes I feel it necessary to comment on grammar and other times the flow of the story as an example. I will always try to be sensitive of your feelings for I know that writing is hard and personnel but even though this is true I still want to be as helpful as I can.

I look at the title, premise, overall structure first. Then I see how it makes me feel. After that, I might comment on little errors which are easily fixed.

Words Whirling 'Round
(minimum 1,000 GPs)
Every word we put to paper comes from someone else. We learn from parents, teachers, books, movies, idle conversations - our entire life becomes our source material. The only thing that's original and unique is our choice of how we put the words together. To be 100% honest, we'd have to credit the Dictionary, Thesaurus, and Google for every poem and story. I may suggest changes in my review. This is not meant as 'serious' literary criticism (I’m no expert). It's merely my record of the ‘bumps’ I encounter as I travel through your words. If I'm thrown by a typo, an awkward word, or a line that doesn't scan, then it's likely that others will be as well. My intent in giving a review is to applaud your work and maybe help you to improve it. A review is merely another reference to consider. If the suggestions prove useful, then use them. If I ‘just don’t get it’, then by all means ignore me! Only the author can take credit for the final words, no matter what the source.

I am no expert on anything. So I can only tell you how something makes me feel. My native language is also not English and I am not an American. So I might not understand culture specific expressions. 5: If I absolutely love the item and would remember it and even recommend others to read it by posting it in my newsfeed. I will also give 50 GPS+ if I have any GPs left in my account. 4-5: If I like the item, but not enough to recommend it to others and post the link in my newsfeed. No GPs. 3 -4: If the item is okay. I kept on reading it because I thought I might change my opinion, but the item failed to meet my expectation. On the other hand I did not find any grammatical or spelling errors in it. 2-3: If the item is something which I didn't get at all and found at least one grammatical/ spelling error. 1 -2: I did not like it at all and could not even feel like reading it to the last.

In a single word, thorough. I will turn your piece upside down, shake the change out of its pockets and look at even the most minute details. I can be technical but will do so when emphasizing a larger point about the piece as a whole.

I don't like using a template. I don't like correcting spelling. I don't like correcting grammar. I don't want to be your editor. I enjoy discussing what I have read. I am very happy to tell people what I have liked and what I have disliked. There is not a lot that I dislike.

I try to imagine I've just taken a seat in the waiting room at a doctor's office and picked up a magazine to pass the time. Suddenly - what's this? - I stumble upon your little work of art. As a result of reading your story, either I will 1) I like it so much I MUST have it, so I stuff the magazine down the front of my shirt and hope the doctor isn't checking my heartbeat today, or 2) Become so nauseated at the ineptitude displayed by your chicken scratches that I will beg the doctor to consider me for an emergency euthanasia. Chances are it will be somewhere in the middle.

I am honest and respectful, and try to be as diplomatic as possible when I review a piece of writing. I use a template to cover most writing elements, as well as giving you my personal thoughts and feelings about it. I rate fair and equal to the review I give, but I only give a rating of 5 if the piece is perfect, in my opinion.

I'm picky when it comes to review, or shall I say not just how I review, but what I choose to review in the first place. I will make an attempt at anything if you really want me to, but there are exceptions. If something is so riddled with errors that a spell checker or basic grammar checker would find, I have a hard time reading through it. And if I can't get through it, I can't give you a good review. If I comment on grammar at all, it usually means I've identified a pattern of repeated errors, and I think I can help you fix them. That said, I look mainly for Content, Theme, Style, Continuity, Passion -- NOT line editing or grammar checking. In addition to the above, I tend to comment on what I think is missing, what can be improved, or something that I really like and want to see you keep doing it.

Brutally honest, but fair. I will give my impressions of the main points: Plot, character, setting, dialog. Then I will get into grammar, spelling, and typos. I will tell you what works, and what doesn't. As far as the star ratings go, I don't rely on them too much, but use them as a measure of an item's relative merit. Take it for what it's worth. Bottom line, my goal is to help the author improve their work.
