My first prize I won for an activity in school, a quiz competition, back in fifth grade, was a book. I beat a couple of sixth graders to first place, actually. Like most other nine-year-olds I didn't quite know what I wanted to be when I grew up, then. But now whenever I look back I believe it was a sign of who God wanted me to be. At least in which direction I would be headed: everything to do with writing and books.
Now when I sit before my laptop to write and hit a roadblock, I tell myself, "Just steadily work your way through it. This can't stop you!"
