After teaching elementary children for many years I was amazed at their depth of understanding of human emotions. They seemed so atuned to their feelings and those of others. Some of their very early experiences brought joy, frustration, as well as much excitement. In my story of Seymour and Davey I tried to capture their sincere and youthful love of a sibling. I think many of my students felt this kind of adoration for an older sibling or a close relative. I hope to convey this fresh and unconditional love to my readers.
