This is a poem I wrote about an event that happened to me recently. Please rate honestly.
It was late that night
Around one in the morning
When she opened up to me.

She meant it to be helpful,
And she meant it to be about her,
But what she didn't realize
That night everything would change.

She said she wanted something,
Something she couldn't explain,
Something stable.

I consoled her selflessly,
But I couldn't help, but think.
Was that guy the one who stayed up all night
Holding her tight, trying to stop her tears?
Was that boy the one that made her smile,
Got her through those dreaded days
When she would sit in the corner and cry?

Finally, I couldn't stop myself.
I said quietly three simple words.
I love you.
She looked at me and smiled
But her gaze met the bed again.

Her next words hit me in the heart.
"I know you do. But I want more."
There wasn't anymore.

The rest of the night was a blur
Of mixed feelings, of tears,
And I went to bed with that word echoing.
More.

I stopped loving her that day
And she still sits in that room.
Crying her eyes out,
Regret on top of all the rest.

I moved on,
I am happy now.
I don't have an anchor around my ankle,
But still I wonder.

I saw her the other day.
She was thinking to herself,
And our gazes met.
She rose to her feet to appraoch,
But I walked away.
I had had enough.

My friends,don't be that girl.
Appreciate the people who love you.
They might not always be there,
And then there will be a hole
That can never be filled
Forever in your heart.

Trust me on this, my dear.
I am that girl.
