The battle raged but Saddul heard none of it as he slipped into eternal oblivion. His comrade, Foddonias stood over his body, his pistol blazing and his rapier hilt twinkling with blood. It was good to know that someone cared, Saddul thought, and ‘tis good that I’ll be goin’ to a better place. Saddul coughed up some blood, and began convulsing. This only made Foddonias angrier, and he jumped at his enemies with a fury that rivaled that of the fiercest lion alive! Foddonias slid his sword through the back of one man and used his shoulder as a resting place for his pistol. Hardly caring to aim, he shot four rounds before he was brought down to lie next to his friend Saddul. Saddul barely noticed as Foddonias’ body thumped down next to his, and next to the many other bodies that littered the field. Is this how all things would end? With a feeling of hopelessness that nothing could be done to stop all this? Saddul knew that he would just be another dead soldier to be forgotten, and then he knew no more.
