My favorite serious poem, about the decreasing morals of today's world. Thanks, Tic!
The Impossible War

These days, you can't say what you believe,
You can't let any emotion show,
You can't wear your heart on your sleeve,
You just can't let them know.

If you do, they will persecute you,
Because kindness isn't cool,
With poison words they will shoot you;
Who cares about the Golden Rule?

It's a sad place to live in,
Where you can't just be yourself;
Sometimes you just want to give in,
And forget your mental health.

The fight may be futile but it's just as well,
Even when it blows up in your face;
Try to make an isle of Heaven in this sea of Hell,
Try to make it an inhabitable place.

Just keep fighting the Impossible War,
Even though the enemy is invincible;
There's still some "good" to be fighting for,
Defend the neglected principle.

Though the Darkness cannot be entombed,
And grows stronger every day,
The light will never be fully consumed,
A feeble, resolute ray.

Who will win the Impossible War,
Between the good and the sin?
The light you should be fighting for;
Don't let the darkness take you in.
