Fighting hard to just breathe,
Through this raging dust storm—
The lessons of life have left my once
Peaceful soul, tattered and torn.
In innocence, we're born
A soul of purity, entering
Into a most impure world.
The grime of life, clings
to us in thick layers—
Torrents of life, clawing our
Souls like a trapped cat.
Through each trial our souls
Are reshaped and reformed,
The callouses are many— trophies
With their rough edges and all.
And the people we become,
Well they've never been the
People who we are.
